Italia demostró en el partido de ayer que la presión prevalecio mas que su juego, es impresionante, pero los estados mentales de los jugadores hacen los resultados. En los papeles Italia tenia todas las de ganar, y a pesar de que Irlanda del Norte estaba invicto en su casa, la superioridad de los italianos es notable, 1 a 1 son mejores, pero eso no se reflejo en el campo. La selección dirigida por Roberto Mancini no tuvo ideas durante todo el encuentro, era evidente que algo estaba pasando, la historia les pego fuerte. Con esto quiero decir, que estaban predestinados a fracasar, viéndolo desde un punto de vista objetivo y con la cabeza fría, Italia desperdicio su clasificación en los partidos directos que tuvo contra Suiza, desaprovechando dos penales decisivos en cada uno de esos partidos, claro esta no se le puede quitar meritos a Sommer en el primero de ellos que lo atajo, pero en el segundo Jorginho la mando a las nubes, emulando a Roberto Baggio en el mundial de Usa 94 cuando fallo su penal contra Brasil en la final.

A pesar de tener superioridad en la posesión del balón, las ideas no aparecieron, Jorginho estaba desaparecido, Chiesa muy bien marcado, y el resto de los jugadores solamente pasaba el balón de un lugar a otro, por momentos estaba estresado viendo el juego, y a la vez lamentando la falta de Verrati en la mitad de la cancha, es increíble, pero cuando esta el Buho Italia juega diferente, su visión de juego es muy distinta a la de los demás jugadores, por algo lo tienen como el sucesor de Andrea Pirlo, uno de los mejores mediocampistas de toda la historia de Italia.

Para Italia clasificar habría tenido que ganar 3-0 y no pudieron anotar ni unas sola vez.

Por primera ocasión desde la era Mancini Italia se vio sin claridad en el ataque, con nulidad en sus pensamientos cada vez que tenían la pelota, solo algunos jugadores fueron destacables, Di Lorenzo en la primera mitad, Chiesa y Verardi en la segunda, fueron los que mas intentaron pero no fue suficiente. Mancini tardo para hacer los cambios, tanto asi que el famoso comentarista Vito de Palma estaba angustiado por la demora, quizás Mancini tambien se vio abrumado por la situación, y al hacer los cambios, solo el jovencito Raspadori mostro actitud correcta ante la situación, el resto de los que entraron estaban bloqueados y su juego no fluyo. Hasta ahora he hablado del partido pobre que hizo Italia, pero no quiero pasar por alto el buen planteamiento táctico de Irlanda del Norte, que tenían una idea clara, complicar lo mas posible la clasificación de la Azurra, y en efecto asi lo hicieron, se plantearon muy bien en la mitad de la cancha, y jugaron al catenaccio, y suena paradójico, pero con eso anularon a los maestros del catennacio. Asi que muy bien hecho por Irlanda del Norte, tienen su crédito mas alla de todo.
