The story of Makunouchi Ippo can be considered as a story of self-improvement, its author George Morikawa developed an excellent character, with great determination to achieve his goals but initially he was just a young man bullied and beaten by his classmates. From his beginnings we can notice the environment that surrounds him, son of a deceased fisherman, Makunouchi assumes to some extent the role of being a responsible son who helps his mother to get ahead with the family business, which after the death of his father became a fishing boat rental.

The physical work that Ippo did in his job would have great importance later on in his career as a boxer, a career that would precisely begin after a professional boxer rescued him from a beating he was receiving by the "bullies" of the school where he attended. Ippo was a victim of bullying, because of his work he always smelled the marine environment and this was an alleged reason why he was beaten, he never defended himself even when they made fun of his mother, but in turn showed helplessness and anger within himself for not doing so.

Fear paralyzed him, but after Mamoru Takamura rescued him and told him a few words his thoughts began to change, a question arose inside him, what is it to be strong? And under that question he started watching boxing videos until he decided to start training. Like any beginner he had no idea what he was doing and fear was always present, but as he progressed he began to learn the basics of boxing, to fight with others in the gym until after a while he took the test to become a professional boxer. It was a fact, now Ippo Makunouchi had his license as a boxer.

At this point in the plot some interesting events occur, at school they learn that he is a boxer and begin to see him with different eyes, he even gets some popularity, that's when the bullies realize that he became a boxer, but Ippo does not hurt them, then they begin to see his first fights secretly, because it turns out that deep down they like boxing and after a while the one who was beaten senselessly becomes their idol and they support him furiously in each of his fights.

The road to the Japanese title / El camino hacia el titulo japonés

Ippo's motivations can't be forgotten, his career is based on that, he wants to know what it feels like to be strong and boxing is one of the ways he tries to get that answer. As he boxed, he has a love for the sport and he does it with a lot of determination, which has become one of his best qualities in the ring.

His fighting style is that of an "infighter" this means that he is not a distance fighter but one that fights body to body, close to his opponent is where he can develop his greatest strength, and this is undoubtedly huge, his family work developed a strong base throughout his body and that led him to become the man with the strongest fist in Japan in his weight. Under this premise Makunouchi Ippo begins to win battles knocking out all his opponents, but also receiving a lot of punishment due to his fighting style, he is not someone who dodges a lot but someone who receives and gives blows, in yes, what most boxing fans like to see.

His personality and his intense fighting makes him win friends inside the ring, who are also his rivals, these have together with the members of the Kamogawa gym (Ippo's gym) great participation in the story and motivate him to keep going. After 10 intense battles Ippo manages to climb and be #1 in the ranking, his title opportunity has arrived and he must face the champion Date Eiji, the only Japanese who has managed to fight for a world title, although he lost it at the time he has great level and experience in the ring; these become decisive in his title defense and thanks to them he defeats Ippo knocking him out in the 5th round and giving him his first defeat as a professional.

From this point the author shows us more of the character's determined character to achieve things, the first defeat is something very difficult to overcome for any boxer and in the case of Ippo is no exception, in this part of the plot several things happen but in the end they make him understand that he still does not know the answer of what it means to be strong and because of that he continues his career in the ring until after an intense battle against Takeshi Sendo he manages to become champion of Japan for the first time. After this comes a long career of title defenses until he decides to go for the world title, something we may see another time. To conclude, George Morikawa's story is still valid today, there are many things that have happened, but the scenario of overcoming has not been left aside, that teaches us that with determination and hard work you can achieve great things.

This story looks good. When I was a kid I used to watch a boxing anime, but now I don't remember the name. It's a very old one, it was on TV, although I don't like that sport, I remember I liked the series. I have to search the internet until I find the one I'm telling you about. Very good publication, I hope that others are encouraged to see this anime that you recommend. Remember to interact with other members of the community.

Thank you my friend, of course I do, grateful for the reminder.

In my life I have only seen this boxing anime, in fact I also follow the manga. The one you are telling me about I have no idea which one it could be, but I was curious about it.

This anime has a very good story, it's not just fights, there is an interesting background that surrounds each of the characters.
