Barefoot walk, random dog pats and a giant soy dirty chai.
I wasn't up for running this morning, so while Brad ran down to our nearest lovely bay beach, I drove. Once there, I walked along the coast, my bare feet on the grass, headed for the dog off leash beach.
I love watching dogs play. I also observe, curiously, which dogs come to me for pats. Today, an older dog walked all the way to the end of the beach and stood right next to me.
No jumping. No licks. No sappy eyes asking for attention. Just her quiet request for gentle love.
For several minutes I stroked her back and behind her ears as while both watched the other dogs run rapidly along the beach. When it was time to start walking back to meet Brad, I said a quiet goodbye and walked back along the beach.
It was lovely 😍
Once Brad and I had dunked ourselves in the delicious, cool saltwater, and got dry and dressed we jumped in the car and headed to one of our local cafes. A big crew of our running friends had run elsewhere this morning and were already there, chattering away over their various beverages.
While he had a cold coffee and a burger, I opted for the biggest coffee I could get. Brad got a photo of me enjoying said coffee 😂
How was your day?

Your story resonates deeply with me. Sometimes, the dilemma of action leads us to discover beauty in stillness. That silent connection with the older dog is a beautiful reminder that love and companionship can be subtle, but they are equally powerful.
The pause you took to enjoy nature and the laughter shared with friends are treasures that nourish the soul. In the simplicity of those moments, we find the true richness of life. Thank you for reminding me that every moment, no matter how simple it may seem, has the potential to be transformative.
