What victory for India in the Fourth test concluded today at The Oval!!!

India made a great comeback after conceding 90 runs lead to England and the way they batted in Second innings, it was a daunting task for England and the way England lost their wickets in the end, tells their over dependence on their captain Joe Root.

Let's go by innings by innings to review each team's performance.

India First Innings:

Having won the toss, England captain Joe Root wanted to exploit the juicy wicket at the Oval and he put India to bat First.

English bowlers responded well to Root's decision to bowl First as India were reduced to 28 for 2 with both openers back in the pavilion by Fourteenth over.

When even Chetheshwar Pujara got out early, India were reeling at 39 for 3 in Twentieth over!!!

Captain Kohli made a positive start to his innings inspite of those early wickets and he and promoted Ravindra Jadeja were able to score few without taking much risks.

Indian captain showed some glimpses of his return to form with a solid Fifty, but India kept losing wickets again with Rahane and Pant not able to score many.

When India was 6 down for 117 runs, in came Shardul Thakur and his counter attack paid off for India as he scored a quickfire 57 from just 36 balls and in scoring that Fifty, he also broke the record of fastest Fifty at the Oval set by Ian Botham.

For England, comeback man Chris Woakes and Ollie Robinson were pick of the bowlers and they shared 7 wickets between them.

England First Innings:

England having restricted India for below 200, started off badly as they too lost their openers early with 2 wickets falling for just 6 runs on the board.

But, they recovered well thru Dawid Malan and Joe Root with both adding close to 50 runs.

But, that joy wasn't that longer as England lost 3 quick wickets including that of Joe Root by the time they were 62.

When India were thinking of getting England out early, Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow had different plans as they kept slowly and steadily scoring runs.

Ollie Pope made a great start with him scoring 80+ runs and
Jonny Bairstow supporting him well with 37 runs to his name and lower order helped England with Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes scoring well too to take England 290 with a lead of 90+ runs.

For India, Umesh Yadav playing his First test of the series, claimed 3 wickets including that of Joe Root and Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja claiming 2 wickets each.

India Second Innings:

With conditions improved for batting, India started off well in the Second innings with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul providing good opening partnership.

Rohit Sharma was more confident in this test with him scoring his First century outside India with a score of 127 and KL Rahul scoring 40+ runs, India had great platform laid by the 2 openers.

Pujara and Kohli were better in this innings with Pujara scoring 60+ runs, but a middle order collapse once again daunted their progress.

When India was thinking of 200 250, Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur had different plans as Thakur's another counter attack gave India more runs to set a formidable total for England to chase in Fourth innings.

India got out for 466 runs setting England to score 360+ runs to win the test.

For England, *Chris Woakes was once again highest wicket taker with 3 wickets and others chipped in with wickets too.

England Second Innings:

England did start cautiously, but their openers were good as they gave a century partnership with both Haseeb Hameed and Rory Burns scoring Fifties.

A failure by Dawid Malan and 36 runs by Joe Root before he got out and that took England's score to close to 150, but, there was a big collapse for England as Bairstow, Moeen Ali and Ollie Pose departed early.

Once Joe Root got out, India started smelling victory and they could get England all out by 93rd over and got home with 157 runs victory!!!

Indian bowlers were good with Umesh Yadav picking up 3 more and Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja along with Shardul Thakur getting 2 wickets each.

A good victory in the end with India taking 2-1 lead in the series with that win!!!

It will be only Fourth time, they will be winning test series in England if they can do so in the Fifth and final test.

India have won the series back in 1971, 1986 and 2017 and India will look to repeat that feat.

India will enjoy this victory and for picking valuable points for the World Test Championship and will be happy to conclude the England tour with another win.

Thanks guys, I think that's all from me for now.

Have a good week ahead :)
