Amid all the hype about the World Test Championship Final between India and New Zealand, I totally forgot that, Indian women's team is in England to play one off test against the hosts and the match started today!!!!
While women's Cricket is not that popular as the men's Cricket, not just in India, but in also other countries.
Efforts are being spent by International Cricket Council to popularize the women's cricket by giving them more and more opportunities and exposure.
Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI has gone a step ahead and showed their intentions of starting women's version of IPL as Women's T20 Challenge as they allowed women to play few T20 matches in the last 3 versions of IPL held in India and UAE and this year's women's T20 Challenge details are yet to be announced.
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is keen to start a full fledged Women's T20 Challenge with 7 to 8 teams by 2022.

It's been 7 years since these 2 teams played a Test match as it was in 2014 these 2 teams last played and it's like historical moment for players from both teams to play a Test match with pandemic Corona still active in most of the countries.
The match started today at Bristol with England winning the toss and electing to bat first.
India women went into the match 5 of them being the debutantes viz. Taniya Bhatia, Sneh Rana, Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar and Shafali Verma and England had a debutante in Sophia Dunkley.
It was a good start by England as England's openers Lauren Hill and Tammy Beaumont scored 69 runs between them before Lauren Hill was removed by Pooja Vastrakar.
In walked England's captain Heather Knight who played her Hundredth match as captain and Beaumont and her added 71 runs and as both were going strong, Sneh Rana removed Tammy Beaumont for 66 runs.
Captain Knight and Nat Sciver continued to score for the Third wicket and they had a partnership of 90 runs with Sciver scoring 42 before being out LBW to Deepti Sharma.
England had a mini collapse once Sciver got out as they lost 3 wickets for 21 runs including the wicket of their captain Heather Knight who was out LBW to Deepti Sharma for 95!!!!
At the close of First day's play, England were 269/6 debutante Sophia Dunkley and Katherine Brunt at the crease.
Incidentally, Nat Sciver and Deepti Sharma were part of some history between them as for DRS is concerned.
Deepti Sharma had removed Nat Sciver in a ODI in 2017 with India's First wicket thru DRS in ODI and today, they both were at picture when the same Deepti Sharma removed the same Nat Sciver as India's First wicket thru DRS in Test matches
It will be interesting to see what England's tactics will be tomorrow with Dunkley and Brunt are no mugs with the bat.
India may want to utilize First session with overcast conditions and remove the remaining batswomen quickly to have their batswomen score some good runs.

England playing at home, knows the conditions better than Indian players and it will be good contest tomorrow with India's debutante opener Shefali Verma, who is known for scoring quick runs, will be in action and hopefully she scores some good runs to give India the advantage.
That is all from me for now folks!!! I will be back with details of New Zealand team and their chances as part of World Test Championship One off test match review part 2.
Until then, be safe and be happy :)

Have a good day :)

Unfortunately after 2 weeks of very warm and dry weather it looks like both matches will be subject to at least some rain delays today. Fingers crossed the weather will clear and we’ll get some play later in the day

Ah, that will be something these teams don't want.
We have reserve day for the Final anyway but hope it won't get into day 6.

Given India as a slow starter in any of the away series they played, it won't be easy and we may have a result within 5 days itself (I hope team India proves me wrong :) )
