Tuesday Night Road Trip

Hello Hivers and friends. I hope all is going well. I can't believe Christmas is just about 10 days away. Today I will share with you my son's road basketball game he played in.

Well to get this game I left at about 3:00 p.m. and arrived there just before 5:00 p.m. The game didn't start until 7 p.m. so I was a little early. I didn't want to drive up when it was dark outside. It's good I showed up early I got to show some team spirit by watching the boys junior varsity and the girl's varsity games. In reality though I had to stop at Jimmy Johns before arriving there to get my son a sandwich to eat so I had to leave somewhat early.

Coming up to the opponents school I realized their maskot is a bulldog. That in itself is pretty cool because I actually own a pet bulldog. Of course I can't root for them because of that, have to go with the away team.

Here we go the introductions of the players. King Cole doing is normal routine getting crowned during is introduction skit. This is now is fourth game of the season and he comes into the game averaging just over 19 points per game. It's pretty cool to watch games at different venues. A lot of us parents at the road games judge the concession foods. There concession were ok. The popcorn was a little salty but their jumbo hotdog was spot on. Its a bit strange to say we had more fans in attendance than the home crowd. It could very well be that the Bulldogs bring a 1-3 record coming in to our 3-0 record.

I was super late in my attempts to catch a picture of them in the huddle. I took this one as I hurried to unlock my phone right as they were about to break the huddle. I was about 5 seconds late. I tell you it's hard getting shots when your invested in the game. Heck the game hasn't even starting and I missed this opportunity. Of course it doesn't help when the other parents are talking to you.

Here we go it's seconds away from tip off. At this point I'm just as nervous as my son. I'll admit I was zoned into the game at this point and unfortunately I didn't take any more pictures. It's hard when your cheering, giving high fives with everyone around you and continuously talking about the last play.

The game started out with us gaining a big lead. In the first half, as a team we connected on 9 three point shots. Another player on his team hit on six and he added two. The score was 27-9 after the 1st period and 48-19 at halftime. Cole had 8 points at the break.

The second half is when my son scored the majority of his points. He hit on one more three point shot, made 3 lay ups and and made two free throws. His team lead 66-40 after 3 quarters and ended up winning the game by a score of 75-54.

For the game he had 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. He had the game high for both teams and was followed by two other teammates that had 18 and 16 points respectively. He shot 7 of 15 overall from the field. He also Hit 3 of 7 beyond the arc and was perfect from the free throw line going 2 of 2.Not bad at all for playing about 20 minutes of a total of 36 minutes possible.

Above scoring statistics through the first four games. It shows the tops three scorers on his team. He leads in points scored, points per game, and shooting percentages in all three categories. What sticks out to me the most is his free throw percentage. Shooting 86.7% from the line is pretty impressive, he's 13 of 15 on the year.

Today his team takes on a city rivalry. This game will be their biggest test up to this point. Last year one of our starters transfered to this rivalry school. It wasn't because he had resentment against us but to join two of his brothers which attend school there.

It's been a long time since this team has beaten us. We have a streak of wins against them that spans almost 11 years, 22 games in a row! This team hasn't been very good for a long time. There start this year is probably there best in at least 20 years. There only loss came against a really good team and there best player was unable to play. He will be playing tonight though.

The gym will be packed tonight. So a lot of the players have played against each other for a lot of years. In the summer months quite a few of them played on the same teams. There has been a lot of smack talking leading up to this game. It should be a good game to watch and I'm sure many players will be aiming to do their best.

Well I tell you this has been an exciting time for me following my son's basketball experiences. I write again when this rivalry game is in the books.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read me. It's much appreciated! Take care, stay safe and have a great weekend.

Wowsers, your son did fantastically well, as did his team! They seem to have a very solid team! I've rarely played basketball, and never on a formal team, but I really enjoyed reading your narration of the game! I wish indomitable success to them moving forward! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Thank you they do have a solid team. I tell you I just attended one last night (Friday night) . Such a great game and my son had one of his best performances in it. 😊 Another today (Saturday Afternoon) against a good opponent should be dog fight of a game.
