The analysis yesterday (See Preview) was spot on with Club Brugge playing a solid 1st half and Charleroi playing a solid 2nd half making both the pre-game 1H and the late live bets end up as winners good for about 0.8 units profit on the night. These are my views and bets on both Cup matches for this weekend...
Eupen vs Standard
Standard surprisingly managed to eliminate Club Brugge in the Quarterfinals which certainly puts them in a flow in the race toward the cup finals. They haven't really performed all to well in the league with 3 losses in the row last weekend playing against the last in the league. They will be close to complete tonight (only Vanheusden is still out) against Eupen who also took a surprise win against AA Gent in the cup. They played a match with forwarding intentions against OHL at home last weekend which ended in a fun 3-3 match. Overall these teams should be quite a close matchup. I don't want to back Standard because the just haven't been good enough while I also don't want to oppose them since this is a completely separate competition where they are in a good flow. For as far as the match picture goes, it also could go both ways being a very closed down match or a wide-open encounter with both teams going for it. All there is to do for me in this match is to respect the pre-game lines and odds waiting to get more info in-game that potentially could make me find something I deem worth taking a bet on. This is almost inevitable and I do expect some live action on this match at some point.
No Pre-Game Bets
Anderlecht vs Racing Genk
Anderlecht continue to mix really bad matches that are brutally boring with them bringing nothing whatsoever offensively with matches where they actually play quite good. One constant is that they do keep things quite closed defensively. In this match, they will be without central Defender Delcroix. Genk is 3rd in the league and is coming off a 2-game win streak in the league and a sold 4-1 win over KV Mechelen in the cup. They recently played Anderlecht at home in a match where the visitors were the away favorite ending up winning 1-2 in a classic scenario where you have to respect the Asian move. Genk since that match has picked up a better form and they have a team with enough quality not to be a big underdog tomorrow. A draw means there will be extra time and penalties which certainly is not unthinkable. Genk should have learned from the previous match and I see them less as an underdog than the current odds suggest which made me take a small-medium 0.6 unit bet on
Racing Genk +0.5 @ 1.824. This could turn out in a low-scoring match and the odds seem overly adjusted on the ok Anderlecht defense which made me take a 0.2 unit position already on
Racing Genk Team Total Over 1 @ 1.930 with an option to maybe increase this in-game. It remains a cup match in the end which often creates more open encounters especially after the first goal is scored. Raing Genk have proven to be capable of scoring goals with Onuachu, Ito, Bongonda in the offense with good scoring options on the bench also.
