Yesterday was another case where is showed that it's just unlikely to ever have a big edge over the market especially when it feels quite obvious and the line still moves in the other direction. Somehow the asian market predicted that AA Gent would have a total off day against Anderlecht who on top needed a deflected ball to score the 1-0 final score. I was spread between different bets and ended up just sloing a small amount which kind of felt like a win especially since I have seen this scenario so many times before. Basically what it comes down to is that I'm unable to have big position on one specific autcome thinking there is a big edge and I need to grind my way up mainly with bets that I feel are winners but provide marginal value. That is what I will do it with for now and tonight is another one of those matches...
Club Brugge vs Westerlo
The pattern for Club Brugge remains the same as it has been for some years now. In Europe against better teams who are willing to play forward they manage to shine while in the league against worse more defensive teams they have a ton of problem and don't really seem motivated. This while they should have the quality to just blow out these opponents more often than not. So it's frustrating as they have fairly soft lines based on the quality difference but they never really have much margin against them if they end up beating the handicap. At the same time with the busy schedule, it always remains a question mark how much their coach will rotate with b-squad players who aren't always as good. Westerlo has been a mixed team with performances where they have issues especially against teams that play with high pressing (5-2 away vs Anderlecht & 4-1 vs Cercle Brugge), (Club Brugge is not really a pressing team though) while on other occasions they take surprise big outright wins as the underdog. Last weekend, they played a poor match against Standard, losing with 0-2. Their offense was not good enough while they got hit by 100% finishing on the counters. The week before they took a surprise but deserved away win against Westerlo with 0-3. They have been a team that has been capable of scoring goals though with a xg between 1.22 and 2.66 in their last 6 matches. However, this is the first time they face a real top team. Brugge however on the xg against is really low with 0.73-0.81-0.13-0.69 in their last 4 matches. I did end up taking a 0.2 unit bet on
Westerlo Team Total Under 1 @ 1.750. I also have a lean on the home win but will need to see the lineup first while it also is not unlikely to see a better line along the way as Brugge Likely one again will start very lazy to eventually get the chance to score followed by a bit more space and the 2nd to follow later.
