Saturday was a bit of a horror day as I had a couple bigger bets which all ended up losing in the most unfortunate ways. It crushed down over half of the profit that I made over the season but on the bright side I would take the bets again. I'm not sure if I should continue with somewhat higher stakes or go back to super conservative grinding. I'll see how Sunday goes and see how to continue after. It's near impossible at this point to make this week profitable so the only aim is to make this Sunday profitable.
Genk vs AA Gent
Genk managed to qualify for the next round in Europe but needed to play extra time and last week they already showed a bit tired. They continue to be a bit vulnerable in defense and again took 3 goals against. In the league, they are still fighting to get into playoff 1 and play today against direct rival AA Gent. Kv Mechelen had a really lucky last second win yesterday and are at 7 points and likely out of range. Standard also isn't out of the picture yet, and they have the most difficult schedule ahead of the 3 facing Union, Stvv & La Louviere away while also playing in Europe. So today for them is a key match as they more or less need to take risks to get the win. The fact that they continue to be vulnerable in the defense while likely feeling some fatigue makes me lean to AA Gent as the big underdog. AA Gent last week had a collective off day so they are in somewhat of a bounce back spot and I expect them sharper today. They do however have some defensive worries with some questionable defenders. I took 0.4 units on
AA Gent Team Total Over 1 @ 2.060 as my main bet. I also took a small shot of 0.105 units on
AA Gent +0 @ 3.810 which just feels a bit too high & 0.095 units on
AA Gent 1H +0.25 @ 2.130. The match might very well start out with caution from both sides and eventually open up a lot especially after the first goal is scored.
Westerlo vs Union
Westerlo after a rather fortunate win last week managed to get back in the picture and are both still in range of a playoff 1 spot in case the winning streak continues but also aren't safe from a playdown spot fully. They are a team who are hard to estimate as they are highly irregular in their performances often having off days where it's just not good enough while rarely really convincing. Union is still leading the standings but they have been in somewhat of a form dip even though their results stay good. So a match between 2 teams I don't really trust at the moment which makes it hard to place any bets.
Charleroi vs Club Brugge
Charleroi after their coach put on a B-Squad against Cercle Brugge got themselves in a losing streak of now 4 matches which puts them inbetween Playoff 1 and the Playdowns. Last week, they lost away against Westerlo despite being the better overall team. Their difficulty remains to create enough chances. At this point, I see their good streak as broken and backing them isn't really an option. Club Brugge all season long had their minds on the Champions Leagie which influenced their general performances in the league which were good enough to take points but they more than often failed to cover their handicaps. The question today is if they now will be able to put their focus on the league and start covering their handicaps also. They do perfer to play against playing teams and they rarely keep clean sheets.Last season when they got elinimated in Europe, the next match was also against Charleroi which they won with a 4-2 score. At the current odds given the fact that they remain the better team with the opponent in a bad streak I had to take 0.3 units on
Club Brugge -0.5 @ 2.042 along with 0.2 units on
Club Brugge 1st Haklf -0.25 @ 2.540. I also took 0.04 units on
Club Brugge Win & Both To Score @ 3.860 given that they so often win and get goals against.
Cercle Brugge vs Dender
Cercle Brugge really picked up their form in the last matches with 2 wins and a loss that could have been more especially in the 1st half. They are still in the hunt to escape the playdowns and a win would take them a lot of steps further. It's more or less mandatory for them with 3 not so easy matches ahead of them. Dender remains dead last and their coach was fired last week. So it remains a potential coach shock effect match but at the same time I felt that they still had the fire in them with the old coach which now actually might be gone again a bit. I do expect them to try an keep things closed on the defense with an eye to come out on the counters or late try something when needed. I expect Cercle Brugge to start with a lot of energy and drive forward and am leaning on them for the 1st half and corners handicap. At the same time, I hate to go against the coach change affect which time after time shows that it covers the handicaps more than often.
