Jupiler League Week 29 Saturday Previews

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

It was a fairly low-key betting match yesterday with just some live action on corners and a late +0 Bet on Charleroi anticipating a higher chance for a counter than a comeback for the home team. Overall it ended in a just below break-even results and I continue to find spots to bet on Saturday and Sunday even though I at first glance anticipate not that much action.

Union vs Eupen

The main news for Union is that their 2 Strikers are suspended for this match. Combined they scored 33 of the 62 goals for the team which is actually a smaller share than I anticipated. The big test for Union always was going to be injuries and not having their 2 main strikers for sure is a big handicap. The overall team vibe is still great and I do expect increased motivation from the team to do well without them which often happens the first game star players are out. Eupen just had 3 matches against top teams losing 4-1 against Anderlecht, 0-1 against AA Gent, and 1-3 against Club Brugge. This continues their losing streak while their play at times was actually not that bad. So it remains the question of how Union will do without Undav & Vanzeir while Eupen is not as bad as they look based on their previous results. The main bet I looked at during the week was the Under 3 or 1st half Under 1.25 mostly out of anticipation for the news to create a money flow on the under which happened so now I am too late even though I'm not sold to really get in on it. I need to see how the match goes before considering to bet anything. No Pre-Game Bets

Oostende vs Stvv

Oostende is not fully safe yet but the 2 wins in their last 5 matches they took did give them a lot of breathing room. Overall they haven't been the best team and I don't trust them in any way to put up great performances. They are less offensive-minded under their new coach and I don't expect a wide-open approach from them today against Stvv who have shown to be very capable on the defensive end and dangerous on counters. Stvv is safe and are still fighting for Playoff 2 even though I don't see them change their base approach because of that. The odds have pretty much been adjusted to the situation with a 2.5 line and low odds which is not worth the risk for me. I do however like the Under in corners and took 0.3 units on Under 10 Corners @ 1.840. both haven't exactly been teams that create or give away a lot of corners. Oostende under new coach so far never lost against this line.

KV Mechelen vs Cercle Brugge

Mechelen is in the hunt for a Playoff1 spot and was up for it last week against Antwerp winning deserved with a 1-2 score. Against Genk away the week before they played compact but got an early counter against and a red card which screwed them. Cercle Brugge has also been in a good form and are safe by now and fighting for Playoff 2. Mechelen is missing Bijker and Peyre who both are regulars in their defense and both teams should be capable offensively. I would be surprised to see this turning out in a closed match and I expect both teams to just go their chance. I did take a cautious 0.3 unit pre-game bet on Over 2.75 @ 1.970 with an eye to potentially increase my stake in-game. I'm also looking at the Cercle + handicap corners line but will need to wait for limits to increase just before kick-off to potentially get a bet in.

OH Leuven vs Anderlecht

Anderlecht took a not undeserved win against Genk last week which was really important for their playoff 1 fight. Overall they are very much a capable team even though they are also valued that way on the Asian betting markets. They are as good as complete today and I do expect them to cautiously take the initiative in the match from the start. OHL is safe now in 12th place. They did not impress last week against Stvv away but their 3 most recent home performances were decent playing 3-2 vs Cercle | 2-1 vs Genk | 2-1 vs Standard. They are the worst 1H Home team of the league but Anderlecht is not high enough to really take a gamble. Overall, the odds feel about right and my lean is more toward OHL as the +0.75 handicap. Nobody forces me to bet though and this is one of those matches I see no reason what I would bet anything right away rather waiting things out. No Pre-Game Bets
