The Key For Scorum To Succeed

Two updates from the team last week gave somewhat of a confidence boost to Scorum making things now lean a lot more towards the side of it being on Discount instead of it being a Scam. We still have a long road to go before the platform can ever live up to it's potential though. I do see one major missing puzzle piece that could be the key to success...

Scorum Updates...

• The First Update was about the blogging platform and included a long overdue adjustment of the $ prices in both the Wallet and the post payouts. This is a major step forward since it's now actually possible to start promoting the platform more without it instantly looking like a joke and a scam. The @promo.scr account also very much helps in this regard as it gives a nice incentive for users to spread the word on social media.

• The Second update came in regard of Betscorum with new soccer leagues that were added along with some bug fixes and word on an improved @betty bot that offers liquidity on the exchange with better odds compared to Pinnacle.

Looking at the market it's clear that the blogging platform news did not really do anything while the update on Betscorum made the price shoot up!

By now it's clear that the price of SCR very much goes hand in hand with the sentiment of the Sports Bettors. They are the ones that invested most of the money into the project. Betscorum also gives the project a real use case and a reason for people to actually buy SCR instead of having a post2mine mentality just to earn from writing.

Key To Success !

The 0% fees are great on paper but in practice, it shows to be a lot harder to actually play out. For the premise to work, you need 2 people who want to take opposing sides for the same amount around the same time. This simply never happens right now because the number of users is still very small and everyone pretty much wants to take the same bets (favorites and overs).

The @betty bot set up by the team partially solves this problem especially now with odds that are slightly better compared to Pinnacle. There also have been user initiatives to act as a bookmaker but it remains quite difficult for anyone to do it manually and without getting overly exposed.

TOOLS FOR ANYONE TO OPERATE AS BOOKMAKER
This could be very much the key to success! In order for any exchange to operate properly, there needs to be a supply and a demand side. The major bottleneck of the platform currently is the Supply Side (People acting as Bookmaker) because there are little to no tools do so right now.

Bets have to be entered manually which takes a huge amount of time when wanting to offer a lot of them while at the same time it's impossible to keep up with the market moves which leaves anyone who wants to act as the bookmaker very much exposed.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
The betting markets have come to a point where the pre-game lines are set extremely tight with the ones that are able to beat it mostly having to do with tiny edges. This means all the work when it comes down to line-setting is pretty much done already. Some ways this could be done:

• Have a way for users to act as @betty or invest their SCR into something like it that drives up the liquidity paying out profit or losses depending on the results from the ones taking the bets.

• Have a system where users can offer Dynamic Lines. I wrote about this 5 months ago (See Post) as the volume on Betscorum was drying up. The idea is fairly easy and should work perfectly on Betscorum. I am not a coder though and have no clue if it would be easy to make something like this.

DYNAMIC ODDS BOT EXAMPLE
All bets on Betscorum consist of 2 sides. If there was a system where odds on both sides could be offered by anyone after choosing a couple of parameters/rules after which they automatically adjust based on the action that comes in, it could provide infinite liquidity while keeping your book in check.

Rules	(Can be chosen)
Edge	106% [This offers solid 1.971-1.971 odds on 50%-50% estimation] can be set higher or lower.
Stake	Stake offered on each side lets' say 20 SCR [Each time it is taken up fully on one side the bet on the other side gets removed and new odds on both sides get offered again with 20SCR]
Odds Adjustment	The amount or % that odds change each time one side is taken up fully.
Maximum Exposure	The amount taken on one side when only odds on the other side are offered to limit the risk of a big one-sided loss.

When setting the rules at 106% edge starting at 50%-50% on an over/under 2.5 market with 20 SCR Stakes and a 1% odds change on 500 SCR maximum exposure, the dynamic odds table would look something like above. In order to get the odds down from 1.971 to 1.787 it would require 500SCR to do so in 25 clicks on one side. By being able to choose your own rules (2% odds change) could make it go down quicker. This system makes it so there are always odds available and also very much encourages bets on both sides. Fixed odds changes (Left Table) keep the edge the same at all times while Percentage changes (Right Table) increase the edge slightly as odds drift away from their starting point.

If some systems like this were in place on Betscorum making it easy for people to provide liquidity by using their SCR acting as a bookmaker it would give more reasons to buy SCR and possibly attract investors while at the same time making Betscorum much more attractive for bettors. There would be far more offers available pretty much all the time. I would be the first in line to test it out and even find the point where it runs about break-even or for all I care at a slight loss just to help things grow and attract new users.
