It is great following certain racing drivers on their twitter accounts as they never seem to stop. The majority do nothing but a few are always up to something. Valtteri Bottas has been trying his hand at rallying learning new skills.

I thought he would feel right at home in these conditions as he is from Finland and something the Finns are good at is driving on snow and extreme conditions. This rally is a short one and possibly a good rally for him being at home.

Other notable Formula one drivers who have previously taken part in this race are Keke Rosberg, Mika Häkkinen and Kimi Räikkönen so Valtteri can add his name to this list now.He finished 9th overall which is fairly credible for something he doesn't do full time.

The rally organizers asked spectators not to stand near the corners along the route. Look at it who is going to spectate this unless you are a bear.

On Fridays opening stage he was holding second position, but on the final stage he went off the track. This cost him over 3 minutes dropping him into 22nd position for that stage leaving him 9th overall.

Bottas next event is back with formula One with the unveiling of the new car at Silverstone on the 14th February. Mercedes remains one of the few teams that allows it's drivers to do other things involving racing in their spare time. This is probably down to Toto Wolff being an ex racing driver and understands the need to challenge oneself.

Toyota Gazoo team sponsored overall winner. Toyota Gazoo featured prominently in the Dakar rally as well so they have multiple teams all over doing various events

Mixed hand signals between driver and navigator and he was right as they were victorious at the end of this event.

A 19 year old from Finland won 8 of the 10 stages leaving him with a 3 minute margin over his nearest rival. He has joined Toyota this year making him the youngest full time factory driver ever. Driving is in his family which helps as it is a bit like Verstappen I suppose as his dad was former World Rally Championship driver Harri Rovanperä.

I was watching some of that Dakar rally on TV that you were talking about the other day. I was surprised to be flipping through the channels and find that they were actually covering it. It was really interesting.
