OCD Sportstalk Incubation Curation Update

Welcome to another edition of the OCD incubation curation update where we are all about growing the Sportstalk tribe. When OCD agreed to help us I never expected we would grow constantly each and every week. I can't recall the exact figure when this all started but it was 15/ 16 months ago when we had roughly 750 members.

As a tribe on the Hive blockchain @sportstalksocial is one tribe we know could be very big over the coming years as who doesn't like sport. There are billions of sport fans around the world who have no clue we even exist yet. My hope is someday we won't be having to look at numbers as the entire Hive eco system explodes with millions of members. Until that happens we have to do our utmost to keep growing week in and week out building a foundation.

As a tribe we are up another 27 subscribers this week so very steady growth which as they say is what wins the race. As a tribe I always feel we can do more however and we need to stay active as we are lying in 10th place in the incubation tribe program. No disrespect to the other tribes involved but seriously we should be in the top 3 as sports is big in the outside world and way bigger than many ahead of us on the list. We need to grow and it is up to all of us to make this happen.

How are we going to do this you may be asking and one question I have been asking myself for the past year. We have to be creative by not only writing decent posts but as a community standing out engaging with others. Bees are attracted to honey and comments and replies is Hive's honey. To make more honey we need more bees and the only way we can do that is by staying busy ourselves.

Over the last week I was away and kind of took it easy like the rest of you as post numbers were down. 12 posts in total were added for extra curation with @ocd and we all know we can do better. There were some great posts by certain individuals and they now know in order to be curated they need to do more regarding commenting on other posts.

The problem with the core group of authors we have is that if we go quiet it highlights the crap or spammy posts that we see flowing through the sportstalk feed daily. Those are not highlighting what we are about and in some cases a bad reflection of what is on offer. These users are here to milk whatever they can from low quality low effort spun stories we find in the tabloids. They are happy making $0.50c a post 4 times a day and have been doing this for the last year or two.

As a percentage of active users against our subscribers we are average and this is normal. It would be great if our subscribers actually started posting as we are here to support them. This can only happen if we increase our interactions and propose that for this month and next month we each try and do 3 comments per day and aim for 2000 interactions as a tribe target per week. Sounds like a lot, but it isn't really as some Hivers do 800 plus per week on their own in other tribes.

I think if we could get someone to track this it would help our cause so if anyone knows how to get this info it would seriously help our cause. If we can do this then I am sure we could raise some rewards to boost this drive as I know I would gladly offer prizes along with others.

Some of you dropped off some ideas regarding set post topics and competitions etc which I seriously appreciate. I have decided to set a post topic this week which ensures not only original content but is easier for some having a topic set for them. This week it is Legends of Sport so use #legends in your post tag so I can do curation to ensure I don't miss it. Legends of any sport is a wide topic so it should be an easy one to get involved with. I saw @leedsunited is holed up in a hotel in quarantine so no excuses for you lol.

Thanks once again to @ocd for their fantastic support and if you have any extra Hive you would like to delegate then think of @ocdb. Not only are you supporting a great community driven curation project but you also receive a daily payout for your generosity.

#legends is the set topic so please don't forget and looking forward to seeing hundreds of posts this week. Thought I would add this as not sure how many of you read the entire post lol.

Thanks for a genuinely touching mention yesterday! Its not the writing though that's any good, its the story and finding the connections that's interesting, but thank you nevertheless :-)

Yup, i'll be stuck in a locked hotel room for a week shortly so trust me, you'll be sick of the sight of me ;-)

Thanks for keeping on pushing, we all owe you a huge debt of gratitude, mate.

Legends is a good topic, hopefully we see loads of posts, I'll look to participate in the coming days...

Regarding 3 comments a day, I'm more of a many comments and then none for a while, so I'll aim for 21 per week, rather than 3 per day..

This is so true. I've made it a mission of mine this year to post as much quality content as possible. What this involves is obviously extra time to research and squeezing in extra hours to write. The main part I've found to help myself is the planning part of it and I like to schedule my posts in advance to stay on top of things.

I have decided to set a post topic this week which ensures not only original content but is easier for some having a topic set for them. This week it is Legends of Sport.

Challenge accepted! I love this. Thanks for the inspiration.
