Interesting topic and one that comes with huge pressure. many offspring fail to match their parents abilities as the drive is not there. If your parents were successful then you are most likely fairly wealthy and the drive is not really there. If my kids wanted to follow myself I would rather they played another sport in which they could make their own name.

Many parents would prefer their kids not go through the difficulties it took to achieve success in their field. Yet for some careers, not taking advantage of the opening a parent provides just seems like a waste....at least commercially.

I for one will go bonkers if any of the Federer twins became superstar players in the future

Yes but a name made in one sport will still be recognised in another if mommy or daddy was a superstar. Doors will open no matter what as everyone knows everyone in the elite circles.
