Stadium 974 Qatar World Cup 2022

source

Looks a bit of an eye sore with the multi colored shipping containers dotted all over the place. A green stadium as they have at least used second hand containers so in theory recycling them into another purpose.

This is the nickname that has been given to the Ras Abu Aboud Stadium built in Qatar for the FIFA 2022 World Cup. 974 stands for the number of containers used in the construction which kind of makes this unique.

The one take home from any major sporting event is the white elephants these stadiums create leaving the tax payers to cover the bill long after the final whistle or medal ceremonies have been completed.

What normally happens is Government officials force them on a local team justifying the cost as an upgrade even though in reality it is not needed. We have seen that in South Africa after that World Cup was finished in 2010 where the local authorities have been applying pressure to move teams into their unwanted new homes. The Stormers rugby team are now moving from Newlands to the Cape Town Stadium even though Newlands has been their base for over 130 years. The Sharks in Durban are also under constant pressure to move to the world cup stadium across the road which I find totally unfair.

Hopefully these are the builders toilets and not part of the finished facilities.

Stadium 974 makes much more sense as it is the first all purpose stadium that can be taken down and sold on as it is one big kit. The stadium seats 40 000 spectators and could in theory make two 20000 seaters if required. I am not sure if the stadium gets packed away into the containers afterwards for logistics purposes, but that would make logical sense. If all stadiums incorporated this type of design then the host country could then just pass them on to the next host.

Stadium 974 may be using shipping containers but the cost to build is still not exactly cheap coming in at around $1 billion which is nearly $1 million per container. I have no idea who is going to repurchase this stadium in the future and what price it will go for but in all honestly this sounds expensive. Hosting World Cups is all about corrupt officials making a big pay day so if you were out to make a quick buck having a kit stadium is not going to be that popular. The construction deals and supplies is far more lucrative for skimming excess profits.

source

The containers form the structure for the stands allowing the seating to have less concrete supports and thus making it temporary.

Qatar is expected to have spent over $200 Billion for hosting the games adding new infrastructure. The take home from this figure is that number is over 60 x more than what was spent in South Africa back in 2010. The government has justified the spend saying these upgrades would have happened anyway. New hotels, roads, transport and public spaces that have all been new additions along with the 7 new stadiums and one old one upgraded.

The figure doesn't quite make sense as they expect 1.5 million visitors to attend the world cup but the big thing is how many tourists will visit Qatar afterwards. This is not exactly a must have on your bucket list and the majority of people who have been to Qatar have only been at the airport being the hub for Qatar Airlines.

The people doing V2K with remote neural monitoring want me to believe this lady @battleaxe is an operator. She is involved deeply with her group and @fyrstikken . Her discord is Battleaxe#1003. I cant prove she is the one directly doing the V2K and RNM. Doing it requires more than one person at the least. It cant be done alone. She cant prove she is not one of the ones doing it. I was drugged in my home covertly, it ended badly. They have tried to kill me and are still trying to kill me. I bet nobody does anything at all. Ask @battleaxe to prove it. I bet she wont. They want me to believe the V2K and RNM in me is being broadcast from her location. And what the fuck is "HOMELAND SECURITY" doing about this shit? I think stumbling over their own dicks maybe? Just like they did and are doing with the Havana Syndrome.

They are reckless and should have shown the proper media what they had before taking me hostage for 5 years. I know there are many in prison that dont deserve to be there because of this. Your stay in prison will not be fun @battleaxe and friends. People are going to want you dead when they find out what you did. I hope you die a slow painful death. You sick mother fuckers.

Its a terrorist act on American soil while say its not real or Im a mental case. Many know its real. This is an ignored detrimental to humanity domestic threat. Ask informed soldiers in the American military what their oath is and tell them about the day you asked me why. Nobody has I guess. Maybe someone told ill informed soldiers they cant protect America from military leaders in control with ill intent. How do we protect locked up soldiers from telling the truth?

A kit sports stadium! The idea is there but as you point out hardly a great execution of resources and it's ugly as a turd. Yeah who is going to Qatar for summer holidays? Nobody I know thats for sure.

The World Cup isn't in the Summer. Also, the stadium is set to be disassembled and everything in it is set to be reused.

If that is the case then that is a smart way of constructing the stadiums.

I have to admit it is not a beauty and is a turd that cannot be polished.

The budget behind all this is huge, it has left me surprised, although I think that much of it will be recovered by tourists, I still don't know if they can make a profit with so much that has been spent and I didn't know about the containers. I hadn't even seen it, it seems very striking although not very pretty.

There are many bad things that happened to the workers who made this stadium, it's a shame but the World Cup is already months away from starting and I never imagined that Qatar would be a place for that.

They should never have got the World Cup in the first place and we all know why they did. I read about the deaths of the workers and there is no way they will break even after what has been spent.

+974 is also Qatar's dialing code.

I was in an Arabic Twitter space where a Qatar representative was talking and this one in specific will not stay beyond the World Cup. It's set up in a way that it can be disassembled with the components going elsewhere, like buildings and other stuff.

Actually very smart as how many stadiums around the world are never used and left to rot.

Quite a fascinating stadium. It's so unfortunate everything thats happened behind the scenes in Qatar which just makes it hard for me to even get excited for the World Cup

It is not beautiful at all, not an appealing construction, but I guess it wasn't meant to be so; therefore once it has served its purpose of beaing one of the colosseums where the World Cup will be held it may serve different purposes and that might be the upside of it all. Greetings dear @cryptoandcoffee!

The aesthtetics of the stadium are obviously far from beautiful, but I love the fact they use recycled items.

It means they're not just concerned about making money but also preserving the ecosystem. There are lot of things we can do by recycling rather than use new items. I hope other hosts can learn from them and that they (Qatar) also do the needful at the end.

some of these stadiums are unreal. I love this one. There is a vagina stadium as well. And a hat.

974 stands for the number of containers used in the construction

Not the number of migrant workers who have died constructing it then?

They seem to have spent a lot on this stadium and we know how the bidding war came to land on their laps to be given the ticket to host. It's one of the reasons why they also most the World Cup away from the usual summer. Everything looks messed up to me and now, most teams would have to adjust their calendars to accommodate what shouldn't have been in the first place.

I'm not a fan of it I have to be honest and maybe I am not seeing the whole point...I stand to be corrected.

Imagine hiring the best engineers in the world with multimillion-dollar salaries and having them put a bunch of stacked containers on you. It's a joke.

Without a doubt, the capacity of the Qataris and the sheikhs in general to amaze the world has no limits, it is quite likely that it will end up being one of the most innovative stadiums in the world... or so we hope, right?
