Bill Beaumont must be nervous having Pichot challenge his job.

Yesterday Agustin Pichot put his name forward to challenge in the upcoming International Rugby Board now World Rugby election. He has been serving as vice president for the last 4 years under president Bill Beaumont.

Pichot is a credible threat now and the domination over the board needs to end.
This is the perfect time to stop the old boys club carry on their manipulated domination. It is not surprising to note that no other country outside of the European six nations has ever been a President of the IRB.

Laporte hoping for the Deputy job in the next election. His idea of a World Cup Club competition is his idea and what he is hoping to get him elected. The French have too much say currently as they have landed the World Cup twice in what will be 4 World Cups by the time 2023 comes around. They have money backing them and the only reason why they have so much say.

Even now Bill Beaumont wants Frenchmen Bernard Laporte to stand as his deputy. It is a little obvious why the World Cup yo yo's between England and France more than any country as the dominance of power they hold in the political set up.

Change is needed desperately and what a perfect time to change things. The WRB is meant to be growing the game yet they seem only interested in growing themselves at the expense of others. It seems all sports should have a transparency at the top but it isn't as most are clouded in corruption and manipulation.

As a sportsmen and ex player you only want what is best for the game so why have these ex players changed so much. It can only be down to money and power passing the baton onto the next crony in their protected racket. Previous Presidents have been from France,Ireland and Wales.

The voting can be manipulated as the top 10 Unions have 3 votes each out of a total of 50 votes with 18 votes totaling the 6 Nations teams. This is why Italy were added to the then 5 Nations as it was an extra comfort layer of protection.This allows them to only require 8 more votes to win the election and take it in turns protecting their little World.

Countries like the United States who filed for bankruptcy last week need to vote with the others to force change along with all the other countries who must be sick of this one sided dominance. It does become obvious when you look at how easy it is for the likes of the Six Nations to buy their power as offering one or two Unions something extra will keep them in power permanently.

I am hoping Agustin Pichot can shake things up and turn the game around. There is so much that can change if allowed building the game for the future yet the ones in power don't want that as it may threaten their precious income having to share it. Pichot will have the backing of the Southern Hemisphere teams which is an automatic 12 votes plus the likes of the smaller nations like Samoa, Tonga and Japan so it will be close.
