Kenny Britt 2012 Topps Card - Tennessee Titans WR

Kenny Britt had a middle of the road to perhaps a slightly above average career. But I can't help but feel that perhaps he could have been truly great but it just never quite panned out that way for him, for whatever reason. A couple of off the field issues and a couple of injuries and perhaps a slight lack of desire. I have no genuine evidence of that last claim, but I just can't help but feel like perhaps he didn't want to be that great, if that makes sense. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but that's just what my gut tells me.

Despite those slight critiques, Kenny Britt did have some fun moments and a very respectable career.

He played in Tennessee for five seasons. He had a decent/up and down career in Tennessee. I remember going into the 2011 season I thought Britt and Matt Hasselbeck were going to absolutely go off together because they were off to a hot start, but then that season fell short because Britt got injured sadly and he was out for the season.

After five seasons in Tennessee he spent three years with the Rams franchise followed by stints with the Browns and the Patriots.

Britt last appeared in the 2017-2018 season. I haven't found official word that he officially retired, but it seems that his career in the league could be finished.

In Britt's nine seasons as a pro he accumulated:

  • 329 receptions (about 36.5 catches a year)
  • 5,137 receiving yards
  • 32 touchdown receptions

Britt was a big body receiver that could have done real damage in the league. He had all the potential, but it didn't quite work out as well as it could have. But then again perhaps this was the best career he could have had, who am I to judge really.

As a Titans fan I'm glad to have this card. Here's a taste of what this guy was capable of.
