The Rabona Chronicles #6: Target achieved

The season has come to an end and, once again, here comes the report on how the season has gone in the Real Valladolid offices. After much effort and correcting several planning errors, the club's main objective has been achieved. Financially, the balance has been positive and, sportingly, the team, despite the departures, has performed really well and has given minutes to a couple of promising young players. Let's go with this season's report in an edition of The Rabona Chronicles series.

Last season was a season of change. Major changes were made to the club's infrastructure and the results have started to come a season later. Four changes have been made this season:
1.- The stadium completed its upgrade to level 8. We now have a stadium that will be able to give us a good handful of RBN. It will be expanded again when we get it to at least 85% full.
2.- Office Building upgraded to level 1.
3.- Car park upgraded to level 7. This upgrade will be available in the middle of next season.
4.- Hotel upgraded to level 6.

As at the end of each season, we have had to evaluate the renewal offers of the players whose contracts are coming to an end. This season they have been these players:

  1. Jon Doe - goalkeeper - 5433 RBN - Not renewed
  2. Michael Bloem - defender - 6212 RBN - Not renewed
  3. Arhur Ramirez - defender - 11607 RBN - Not renewed
  4. Eryk Lis - midfielder - 5793 - Not renewed
  5. Nicola Caputto - striker - 7647 RBN - Not renewed
  6. Manolo Arroyo - striker - 9530 RBN - Not renewed

Renewing these six players would cost RBN 1,386,660 per season. These six players alone would earn more than the club's total revenue this past season. It remains unfeasible to renew players who are out of contract. The squad would be left with 8 players so we will promote four players from the youth academy and go for free players to complete the squad.

Vito Gatti and Tony Tian came to the club from the youth academy and have been fundamental this season, improving their attributes in an important way. Goalkeeper Jerry Kozak was brought in as a free player to replace Jon Doe. Better goalkeeper and with a much lower salary. It was an opportunity we could not pass up.

If last season Real Valladolid finished the season in 7th position, this one has been quite similar. Despite the changes in the squad, the team has once again performed well and finished in a more than good Xth position, improving on the previous season and growing little by little. Once again we were one of the top scoring teams and one of the lowest scoring teams. Young players such as Tony Tian and Vito Gatti have been given opportunities and we can qualify the season as very good in sporting terms.

End of season in an amazing 3rd position with 64 points, 59 goal scored and 24 goals received

Economic success. The club ends with a positive balance of 203.714 RBN. Cost control continues to be a priority objective and finishing each season in the black continues to take precedence over the sporting aspect given that we have the level to avoid relegation season after season. Next season will be decisive once we see the economic performance that the stadium gives us at level 8 we will be able to assess an improvement in the squad.

Magnificent season in the Real Valladolid offices. In sporting terms, we have improved on last season's performance. Financially we have had a positive balance and we continue to ensure the long-term growth of the club. I am very happy with the evolution of the club this season and we are laying the foundations to continue growing little by little.
