The Rabona Chronicles #8: Keep growing

A new season in Rabona has come to an end. And, as usual, here is the report on what this season has been like for Real Valladolid. Successes, mistakes and projects for the future. A series in which I reflect each season in the game to learn from the mistakes and reinforce the strengths. Let's go with report number 8: we keep growing.

Attendance at our home games has continued its upward trend. With a capacity of 3,200 spectators we have been covering 94% of the capacity. The time is irremediably approaching when we will have to undertake a further improvement of the stadium. This season the improvements to the parking and the hotel have been completed and are already at level 7 and have been upgraded one level further. In addition, there have been some further improvement.

1.- Parking and Hotel upgraded to level 8.
2.- The Office Building upgraded two levels to level 3.
3.- Youth Academy upgraded to level 8 will finish the next season.

When the stadium and car parking are upgraded to level 8, the stadium will be expanded to its next level of capacity. This coming season we will continue to upgrade the Office Building to take advantage of the Office Building bonus for renewals of our best

This season we have continued to give opportunities to our youth players and we are really happy with them. These were the players who arrived at the start of this season:

1. Milo Strondberg - Goalkeeper
2. Matthias Graff - Defender
3. Ignacio Sánchez - Forward

In terms of renewals, these were the players who finish their contracts and the decisions taken on them:

1.- Jerry Kozak - Goalkeeper - 8932 RBN - Not Renewed
2.- Matthieu Lerroux - Defender - 12017 RBN - Renewed
3.- Tom Broeders - Midfielder - 3813 RBN - Not Renewed
4.- Paul Sedlak - Midfielder - 13894 RBN - Renewed
5.- Wei Sheng - Forward - 14661 RBN - Renewed
6.- Matias Velazquez - Forward - 7470 RBN - Not Renewed

We needed to promote a midfielder and a striker from the youth academy and arrived:

1.- Marek Pokorny OS 49
2.- David Kraan OS 45

Two players with low OS but considering they are to cover injuries and suspensions they are not priority players. On this occasion we have not had with the generation of youngsters that have come through the youth academy.

Last season the team finished in 12th position with 40 points. It was a difficult season. This time we have improved our numbers. Finishing in 7º position with 49 points and a much better feeling than last season.

In terms of numbers we have improved by 9 points on the previous season with very similar goal scoring numbers. Last season the team scored 43 goals to 47 this season. The big difference has been the defensive balance. From conceding 50 goals in 30 games we have conceded just 28 this season.

Financially we have continued with a good balance sheet. The investment in the quarry has been excessive given the results obtained and will be reduced in the future. Despite this increase, we have again ended the season with a positive balance of just under RBN 400,000. The club continues to be in a good financial position following the road book.

We have had two good seasons on the economic balance sheet and have considerably improved our sporting performance. Still far from the numbers of two seasons ago when the team finished in third position, but growing and laying the foundations to seek promotion to Division 1 in the medium term.
