Afternoon Run - 9.87km - 01:02:25 [finding a new route]
@dannewton just finished a 9.87km run, that lasted for 61 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 777.0 calories.
Description from Strava: Time for a change of route...
I've been running the same 4 mile route home all Summer, and now that I'm starting to see fitness improving, its time to up the distance. At the start of the year i was running 4 miles into work, and then 4 miles home, and to be honest that isn't sustainable.
The alternative is to keep my early morning commute to work as walking, and instead i will look to increase the length of the run home.
I know this side of Lincoln reasonably well, and there are plenty of different ways to extend the run. Todays run headed down into Lincoln as normal, and then took a detour along the River Witham on to the water railway (long distance path from Lincoln to Boston) After 2km, i then join the Bypass, and follow the road home.
At almost 10km, its a useful increase on my usual 6km route home, and was great to see some different scenery.
note to self - some of the route us not lit, will need to remember a headtorch as the evenings get darker
For now i think I'll increase just 2 of the runs home, and keep the other 2 days as the standard short route. There will plenty of options to try, from 6km all the way up to 20km if I wanted.
Rest day tomorrow, and then a different longer route home on Thursday...

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

It's nice to have some variety. I try to mix my runs up, but work is that bit too far away. Hope the weather is kind to you.

Variety definitely helps to keep motivated, and now finally I have the confidence to go further too.
Weather is OK, although I've noticed a sharp drop in temperatures in the past couple of days... time to start getting the hat and gloves out soon!
