Morning Run - 22.05km - 02:18:17 - Long Run

@dannewton just finished a 22.05km run, that lasted for 134 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 1759.0 calories.
Description from Strava:
Since my recent 1/2 marathon race effort, I've been itching to start getting some longer runs under my belt... for this weekend I wanted to cover another half marathon distance run, and for old times sake I picked a route that I used to run regularly through the center of Lincoln
Strangely enough, when checking my previous runs, I actually last ran this route exactly a year ago, on the 19th October 2024... can you believe that!

I meant to do this run yesterday (saturday), but I had an unplanned (but much needed) lay-in, and then I was busy doing other stuff. Today (Sunday) was a chance to try again, and this time I was up reasonably earlier to make sure I could get it done. The forecast was for sunshine this morning, but there is plenty of wind and heavy rain predicted this afternoon, so I guess I was extra motivated to get the run completed this morning.

Dixon Street, looking usually quiet!
As mentioned earlier, I had already planned my route yesterday, so all I had to do this morning was get some breakfast, and then put all my kit on and head out of the door.
I headed down the hill into town, and then up the high street a little way, before turning left down Dixon Street

After Dixon Street, I take a right to head along Triton Road, where all the large 'out of town' stores are

Brayford Pool, with the Uni on the right hand side, and then a line of restaurants on the left hand side

Lincoln College, Monks Road
After running down past the Brayford, I cut straight across the busy high street, and begin to head down Monks Road. Lincoln College is located here

Greetwell Road
After reaching the end of Monks Road, I double back and head along Greetwell Road (past where I work), and then almost double back again to head along Wragby Road
It all feels very quiet doesn't it..., but I guess it is a Sunday morning lol.

From Wragby Road, I link up with the Bypass, and then its a simple enough route to follow this for approx 5 miles, all the way back to my home in Bracebridge Heath. With a total time of 2 hours and 18minutes, it was slower than my Half Marathon effort 2 weeks ago, but I suppose that isn't surprising haha
Below shows all of my recent runs on this route:

What is really nice to see is how my relative effort seem to be decreasing over time, which shows that my general fitness is slowly improving as it is requiring less effort compared to the runs I did 2/3 years ago.
So even though I'm disappointed with how the last year of training has been, I am apparently still slowly making progress :-)

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
