@dannewton just finished a 1.27km walk, that lasted for 16 minutes.
This walk helped dannewton burn 106.0 calories.

Description from Strava: A really long day, and one that almost ended in disaster.

It started off on a high note, by visiting Carlisle Cathedral with my partner. It is only small, especially when compared with the one in Lincoln, but was beautiful, with stunning blue ceiling decorations.

After that we went to the cafe on site for lunch (feat. a very tasty cheese and onion toasted sandwich, before heading into town.

Disaster then struck, due to my incompetence, as I managed to get myself confused over timings, and boarded the wrong train by mistake. By chance my incorrect train (heading to London) and a similar route at the beginning to the Manchester train that I should have got.

I was able to get off at Preston, and get on the train I should've been on from the start.

fair play to the ticket inspector, as she understood the error, and accepted my ticket on the incorrect train, as it was a genuine error on my part

Then it was time for problem number 2... the Manchester train was running 12 minutes late, and I only had 20 minutes to catch my connecting train to Hathersage. I had never been to the train station at Manchester Piccadilly, but I found out it was absolutely vast. I got of at platform 13, and needed to run (and push through crowds) to leap onto the Hathersage train just seconds before it departed

phew!

Finally I could relax, and enjoy what was left of the train journey. I arrived in Hathersage at 5.45, and it was a short walk across the village to the B&B to where I am staying for the a couple of nights.

This is meant to be a pretty little village, in the heart of the picturesque Peak District National Park... but its now nighttime, so I didn't see any of it.

Now it's time to unpack and get all my kit ready, as I'll be heading out into the hills for a nice long run/walk. For those who know, I'm aiming to do the Hope Valley Round tomorrow. The bad weather appears to have cleared up, and I will be in for a glorious day (if slightly on the chilly side!)

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

Thanks Joan, it was beautiful here... and once I had managed to get myself on the right train, I was able to relax and enjoy it

And the run the following day was well worth the effort to get here!

Went all over our country with my husband being a runner, camping, renting out of the way places always good memories after the event.
