dannewton just finished a 9.79km run, that lasted for 65 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 1091.0 calories.

Description from Strava: I'm not kidding, the rain was flippin' lovely!

After walking down to Boultham Park in the dry, there was some light drizzle as we waited for the event to start. There were a few announcements then we lined up on the start line, and the drizzle turned into light rain. It wasn't unpleasant, and to be honest I generally enjoy running in the rain, especially as at 17C it was still quite warm.

Definately better than running in the heat 2 weeks ago!

I'm pretty sure I ran faster this time because of that, although I suspect the fact that I walked 4km to get there helped to warm me up (last week I 'cheated' and got a lift there). I hope to build up to running there and back in the next couple of months.

So yeah, pretty sure I was quicker. I didn't aim to be, but the pace just 'felt' right. I started near the back again, so there was plenty of overtaking! I was surprised at the amount of people who were walking as I ran past them. 5km isn't a huge distance, if they are already walking at the halfway point, surely that means they set off at a pace which they couldn't sustain. Seems daft to me, I always start slower so I can finish strongly.

With the run completed I got my barcodes scanned to get the official results, and then I paused for 30 seconds to catch my breath before heading for home.

pretty sure I confuse some of the Marshals as I trundle past them for the 4th time in what should be a '3 lap' event 😅

I'll update this once I have received my official time, but for now I'm gonna head back out to the shops to post a parcel for my partner (and buy some snacks for later!)

EDIT
Results are in, and yep I was faster this time as I had expected. Last Parkrun was 31:55, so I was 52 seconds quicker this time. I suspect that was more likely due to me being slower last time (heat and lack of experience)

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

Nice work, especially to have a nice 4km walk there. I think you are right to start off near the back, it's fun to be passing people all the way through the race.

Cheers Vince!

Hopefully will be able to run the whole thing in one go in a few weeks time

I've forgotten how much fun it is to run with other people, have to concentrate to stay disciplined and keep to my own pace instead of overtaking as many people as I can! 😅

Its certainly a useful feature, I'm already putting the work in, and the @strava2hive dapp pulls the data and posts it on hive

!BEER is good but !PIZZA is better

Who am I kidding, I'll quite happily have both 😂😂
