dannewton just finished a 22.72km run, that lasted for 140 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 1746.0 calories.

Description from Strava: Here we go again... these Saturdays seem to come round so quickly. Slightly depressing this time as I've just had a week away from work, and it seems to have gone so quickly, and I don't seem to have achieved much this time.

yes it's nice to have time off, but it kinda seems wasted this time around...

Anyway. Another Saturday means time for another long run. Today I had planned to go to Navenby and back if the weather allowed. But, we had freezing fog overnight which has left ice patches everywhere. This resulted in me being catious again and sticking to the village.

I opted to do the usual 5.5km loop around the village, and as it was meant to be a long run out today, I guess that meant I needed to do 4 'laps' to reach the required 20km distance. And of course once I had done the first lap, I then knew I had a reasonably safe route, and could at least relax a little on the 3 following laps. If I had done that out and back route to Navenby, I would have spent the whole time watching where I was treading, unsure if that patch of frost was icy or it had enough grip to run on...

Doing the 4 laps was a bit boring though!

It did tick all the boxes I guess:

  • complete the long run
  • sticking to a reasonably easy pace
  • reach my weekly distance target of 40km (43km this week)
  • keep adding to the 2023km target for the year
  • and most importantly, no injuries or accidents due to the pesky ice!

Looks like we will still have ice tomorrow (Sunday) but there is a bit of a thaw on Monday and throughout the week. Temperatures will be increasing to an almost tropical 7C!

I'm looking forwards to a run that doesn't require dodging ice, although I'm not looking forward to going back to work (Boo! Hiss! etc)

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

Hey @dannewton I am really sorry but I think this may be a duplicate of a previous workout you have done. Hopefully this will not happen again, but let me know if this causes you any issues.
