dannewton just finished a 22.65km run, that lasted for 135 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 1799.0 calories.

Description from Strava: So after yestedays post I finally managed to get outside today to complete the weekly long run.

I think I may still be getting over the 20 miles completed last weekend. I also wanted to hit 50km for the week again, which meant I needed to cover 21km today. I decided to go back to the route along the Cliff Villages. This is a set of villages that are all located in a line along the top of the Lincoln Edge.

Its a relatively smooth and level route, and there is a path that runs alongside the road, so its a decent route to take. I saw plenty of other runners and cyclists out there today.

It was a pleasant run today. The sun wasn't shining, but it still seemed quite bright and warm at 10C and I saw plenty of snowdrops along the way, so Spring is just around the corner! I took my Camelbak out of habit, but I only had water this time. I hadn't planned ahead for sweets, and as it was only a 2 hour run they technically weren't needed. I do need to up my snack game in preparation for the Marathon next month, and try to find something other than Jelly Babies to eat!

Considering I was aiming to take it nice and easy...

I ran a bit quicker than I had intended. Dunno how that happened, every time I checked my watch the pace was between 6.10 and 6.30 for each km. And then when I checked the stats at the end I had apparently averaged 5:56 over the entire distance (which then resulted in a Half-Marathon PB oops!)

I think I only broke the previous time by less than 30 seconds, but still!

It wasn't planned or expected...I guess the nicer weather conditions helped, or maybe I just felt good out there today? Perhaps the change of route helped; I've not ran down here for about 7 weeks.

I'm not complaining by the way, just curious lol!

Anyway. Run completed, Lunch eaten, now to get some chores done ready to start a new working week tomorrow. And if I have time then I'll look at planning my schedule for the next few weeks - Marathon ETA i 41 days and counting!

Er... only 21km, huh? 😆

Wow. That's awesome, Dan! I had no idea!

p.s. I'd take the sweets anyway 😈

well, I did do 32km last weekend - compared to that 21km is just a quick jog round the block! 😅

yeah, about halfway though the run I started to get a little bit peckish... perhaps the reason I ran home faster was just to get snacks?

Nice! Okay... and inspiring!

I've never run that far (not a natural runner here at all) but used to o around 5km a day with weights. And cycling I could pull around 20km off eventually. Hmmmm... I'm glad I ran into you (Yep. I did that on purpose!)

Snacks are a great motivation. I use them to get the young person to comply all the time. 😈

Pfft. Human Beings are designed to move. You just need practice (and maybe some snacks for motivation).

Besides, if I told you I didn't dance because I'm not a natural dancer, what would you say?

I would say shame on you! How can you not dance??? :D

Maybe... I walk a lot and did sprint / walking when I ran until I could run a slow 5km. But it took me forever to get to that point.

Cycling I got cycling fit pretty fast though.

Do you not think different folks have a more natural capacity to get strong in different sports? I always thought I was better at stamina than speed as my muscles are quite strong, but that made running feel "heavy" and hard to do if that makes more sense?

Or maybe I'm just a liddle lazy and there weren't enough snacks involved 😁

Precisely!

Yeah I get that... at the top level each sport does attract a certain 'physique'. All Olympic swimmers look the same, as do all elite long distance runners etc.

My point was that you can still run even if you aren't particularly quick. My dancing is stilted and awkward (mostly as I don't do it very often) but I can still dance if I wanted.

Always need more snacks! (my bathroom scales may disagree...)

Yes I can! But it hurts :( (Until you're running fit :) )

Point taken and I may start running again. Tbh I do miss it. The sprinting part. I loved that.

If you promise to dance if I do. 👍

Because that's how you get a party started 😁

p.s. I banned my bathroom scale some time ago and have been far happier ever since.

But being "light" is far easier and more fun so I am keen on staying this way. You can also do the forward bends in Yoga more easily...

But snacks. :/

Any improvement is worth celebrating.

I saw a few snowdrops today. It feels like spring is on the way.

I guess, but speed is relative. There are people faster than me, and people slower than you.

The important things is that you keep going, and keep training, and over time you will improve your current pace :-)
