dannewton just finished a 6.46km walk, that lasted for 178 minutes.
This walk helped dannewton burn 834.0 calories.

Description from Strava: Exciting day today! (No, not the man getting a new hat) Its a special raid day in PokemonGo featuring the release of a new Pokémon - Kleavor!

Yeah ok, its not actually that exciting...

Its still more interesting than that Coronation thing that is taking place today. I'm not a Royalist, can you tell? Plus I'm due a walk and the PokemonGO game helps to keep me occupied while I'm wandering around the village.

We are due rain at some point today, but currently just very overcast at the moment. Bizarrely the app shows its raining in the game, but fortunately not raining in real life yet!

The event started at 11am and basically features the new Pokemon Kleavor in raids at all of the Gyms. The aim of today is walk between the Gyms doing as many raids as possible in the hope of first adding a new Pokémon to the Pokédex, and then trying to find a shiny version (also released today).

I recorded the walk on my Garmin watch, and I spent 3 hours wandering around, although Strava has logged the activity at 1hr 17mins. Presumably it didn't count all the times I was stood still at each Gym while doing each raid, and only recorded the times I was moving.

To cut a long story short, I did 16 raids, to catch 15 Kleavor's. One raid glitched at the very end, and I couldn't be bothered to try it again lol.

And of those 15 caught, 2 were shiny... i.e. it was green in colour as opposed to the standard yellow beige colour of the standard one. So that was a success I guess

After that, I headed past the shops to pick up supplies (milk, bread rolls and snacks for later), and then I quickly walked home just before the rain started...

...phew! that was nicely timed!

And in between playing the game and doing my shopping, I clocked up 6.5km (4 miles) of walking.

My plan for this afternoon is to carry on avoiding all the Coronation nonsense (pretty sure the TV will be covered with wall to wall coverage of the 'event'). Instead I am going to be looking into strength exercises I can do, not just to benefit my calf, but for the rest of the body as well.

This will include not just squats and calf raises, but also core exercises and press-ups etc... I don't really do anything else other than run, and I think the current injury is a wake up call to look after my body a little bit better. I've been suggested a couple of helpful Youtube channels to watch: Bren Veziroglu and James Dunn to watch, and I've got some 'running' books which features ideas on what I can work on.

It will also help prepare me for the physio appointment I guess, so that I vaguely know what they are talking about, and I suppose it'll be interesting to see what they suggest in terms of exercises...

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

Your smashing me, I only picked up one Kleavor !LOL but I did have to work. It doesn't take much to build a habit around some core and strength. I started with 10 push up after my run.

Lol, well it was only as I had loads of time... if I was working, then yes just the one would have been enough!

Yep true. I managed fine in my 20's with just running, but now I'm rapidly approaching 40 (shudders) I think I need to look after my body better!

Well I did my first strength workout earlier today with an assortment of body weight exercises, more to play around with it. I totally overdid it in the end (as per usual lol) but I was pleased to notice that on the squats and calf raises I couldn't feel any noticeable soreness/pain. Looks like the 2 weeks of no running has helped. A check in with the physio next week and then I might be able to start running again...
