Lunchtime Run in the Sun

I just finished a 5.077km running that lasted about 0hh:31mm:29ss !

TL;DR - Don't let the sun fool you, it's pretty chilly out there!

A nice gentle run to start the week off. Its a beautiful day out there, but I can assure you it is colder than it looks haha. My partner actually had to clear ice of the car first thing this morning, and even though it is now lunchtime, the temperature has barely reached 5C... it was rather chilly!

I chose to do the standard 'village loop' as it is a relatively easy route, and at approx. 5km long its a nice distance to run as well, generally taking about 30 mins. Long enough to get the heart rate going, and yet short enough so I can then crack with the rest of my day.

Speaking of which, I only have 3 days to go until my new job which is still very exciting. But it does leave me with an expected problem... when should I go running?

For the last 15 years in retail, I have always worked weird shifts eg Earlys are 6am-2pm, and Lates are 2pm-10pm. So running has always slotted into a spare morning or afternoon.

My New Job is a generic 9-5 office job. It means no evenings, no weekends and no bank holidays, which I'm really looking forward to. But it does mean I need to work out when I can actually fit in running sessions. I will be catching the bus to work at 7am, so I don't want to be getting up any earlier to squeeze a run in (a 6am alarm is already far too early!) The other option will be to run in the evening when I get home. And now that Winter is approaching, it is cold and dark... guess I'm gonna have to dig out a headtorch!

The other option might well be to 'plan ahead' and run home from work. The office is only 8km away, and even on a slow day that would only take me 45 minutes. It would actually be quicker than taking the bus too! That might be a viable option, although I suppose it depends on how tired I am work... definitely worth looking into. Maybe I could do Tuesdays and Thursdays from work, and then a long run at the weekend? That would give me the 3 sessions of exercising I try to do each week... and it will also help balance out the 7 hours sat on my bum all day (which I won't be used to doing lol)

I'll keep you posted...
