Wouldn't be surprised if some started moving to Florida as well.

I know a few people that have moved to Florida from northern East Coast states and some of my friends who live in Florida aren't exactly thrilled about it either. They want them to remember to keep their political ideals that screwed up where they used to live... and to not bring them to Florida.

Yeah, there are tons of people moving to Florida these days and there really has been for years. However, Florida as a whole has seemed to have shifted more conservative over the last decade or so which is surprising to me. I guess it depends on if most of the people moving here understand what's wrong and why where they are coming from or not. There are some worrisome signs though. Like where I live people recently voted themselves a new half cent tax sales tax...you know, for the children.

I think Florida does have the advantage of having a lot of New Yorkers move hear in that I think they in large part tend to be older liberals that are moving here. Old New York liberals tend to be more conservative than most people in the GOP today and somewhat different that what you would get from any kind of liberal out of California. At least being far from California is an advantage...

I've been to Florida a few times. I thought it was pretty great but I'm not leaving my NC! I might have the wrong impression about it because I was just down there to party, not live.

Urgh! I'm not even familiar with what this is all about but stuff like this drives me crazy especially if the "for the children" part is what they said because that almost always never ends up being where the money actually goes.

What Florida is like depends a lot on what part of Florida you are in. I like it here in East Central Florida but there are definitely parts of Florida I wouldn't want to live in. Anywhere in South Florida for starters. I haven't spent much time in NC but I've been through there many times. My parents lived in Knoxville, TN for a while and that's not too far away.

The half cent sales tax is supposedly for schools. But then, that's what the lottery was for too. Basically such things just free up other tax money to go other places.
