The Dynasties of the Dominants

Over the weekend, specifically on Saturday, it was a day to remember for me as I watched Bayern Munich win against Borussia Dortmund. The match ended 3 - 1 in favour of the home team, Bayern Munich. With goals from Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller and Jamal Musiala, Dortmund got a consolation goal via a spot kick which was taken by Emery Can. This win made the Bundesliga giant to once again win the league title with five (5) more games to spare before the season comes to an end officially. This feat makes it an impressive ten (10) consecutive times they have won the Bundesliga. Just absolutely phenomenal, the consistency, the discipline of the players and dominance is definitely out of this world. The Bayern Munich team has never loosed focus, as they have won everything from their local trophies to the European trophies in recent years. This has not made them to get tired of winning and take their feet off the pedal but instead they have carried on this tradition of dominance. At a point it was assumed that the Bundesliga was a two horse race, that is, between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich but now it seems more like a one team dominance. I have to applaud the Bayern Munich club as they have changed managers and players had gone and some bought but they have not changed or dropped their winning mentality. And they usually succeeds in weakening their oppositions by snapping up their great talents and combine them with theirs to form a lethal combo which cannot be withstand.

I have to give credit to their top players in Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer, Coman and Sergey Gnabry plus a mix of young brilliant players like David Alphonse, Jamal Musiala, etc they all came through for the club. Though they had a slow start to the season but picked up form at the right time and never looked back. They went as far as the quarter finals of this years champions league and were dumped out by a tenacious Unai Emery Villarieal side.

Another team that achieved this feat on Saturday was Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

They also won the French ligue trophy after Saturday's’s match which ended in a score draw between PSG 1 - 1 Lens, this left them with six (6) more games to spare before the season comes to an end. It is also their 10th league trophy though not consecutively but it’s a show of their dominance too in the league.

The beginning of the season held a lot of promises for this PSG side as they acquired the best players in Messi, Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Wijnaldum and Sergio Ramos. But still they couldn’t go past the last 16 stage in the champions league and were knocked out by Real Madrid.

Credit goes to Mbappe who have stepped up his game and came through for PSG. They owe this season’s success to him mostly and that’s why they are ready to break the bank to keep him with a hefty new contract brewing.

Messi, though has been a shadow of himself, probably due to age or change of environment. But he has also contributed his quota in terms of having the highest assist record for the team so far (13) but hasn’t given a good return in terms of goals (9). Neymar has been on and off the treatment table so he hasn’t really been consistent for them too.

Probably they are in need of a change in manager to take them to the next level of which it was reported on Sunday that PSG had agreed to part ways with their current manager, Mauricio Pochettino. Antonio Conte has been rumoured to have offered himself to PSG as the new manager for the new season.

These two teams definitely made Saturday amazing for me. They both dropped out of the champions league but never fluttered in the their respective domestic leagues.

Some fans and pundits are of the opinion that these amazing sides have made their leagues looked mediocre and maybe these dominant teams should be promoted/taken to a tougher league, like the English premier league to prove their mettle.

What say you about the dominance of these two sides in their various leagues.
