My Actifit Report Card: December 10 2023

Great first day at work. Just a couple of jobs, but of course each job involves a lot of work for two guys!

Each long haul flight involves firstly moving all the catering from the chiller room onto the dock for loading into a truck. That's 29 carts (the bar carts can be very heavy). Four trolleys of atlas boxes, and three trolleys of oven racks pre-loaded with meals.

We can do this up to four hours before departure time. Once loaded up we can head off to the airport to meet the inbound flight. We have to wait for all passengers to disembark and any cargo to be removed because there is limited space on the right side of the aircraft where all the ground services operate.

When we are clear to start the job we can finally approach the relevant cabin door (we used one back door and then go to the front).

So all old equipment must be removed first and replaced with the new catering. This takes approximately half an hour to 40 minutes per flight including swapping access doors.

Once completed it's back to base to unload! Quite a physical job but we have a good break afterwards 😁.
