My Actifit Report Card: January 29 2024

On arrival at work this morning, I realised that I had forgotten my mobile phone, so after clocking in and okaying it with our operations, I ventured back home to get it! 🙄

With that task done, the next surprise was the work sheet. Only two jobs to complete, and they could be considered half a job each because one was a strip and the next an onload. A strip is taking off the catering equipment from an aircraft. An onload is loading catering onto an empty plane. So, a very simple days work. However, we helped out the other team by stripping their plane for them as we had an empty truck after our onload.

The picture shows our truck in rendezvous with a dreamliner. Can you spot the error!

There should be a safety shoe under the aircraft door! This is a pressure sensitive device that drops the truck down a bit if the aircraft door touches it, thus preventing any damage to the door. This does happen sometimes if cargo is being loaded, which settles the aircraft down a bit enough to touch the platform.

I think I took this picture after removing the shoe. The shoe device is ALWAYS used.

I found a picture with the shoe correctly positioned under the aircraft door. As you can see, if the aircraft settles down on suspension with extra weight, this will depress the shoe and drop the truck platform by a few inches! Clever stuff!

Another thing is the platform gates. It's not always possible to get the gates fully open due to position and aircraft door sizes. We have to improvise!
