Scent Balsam Poplar:My Actifit Report Card: April 6 2024
The Balsam Poplar tree has a lovely, musky scent in spring. As the new buds and shoots open, it gives off an unmistakable smell even from some distance away. Especially when it's windy, like today. In Tilgate Park, here is Crawley. There are a lot of these trees around the main lake. Indeed, the town has many places where there are rows of them, giving off a wonderful aroma.
So, today, we had two of our grandchildren with us. Where else to take them than Tilgate Park, where there is plenty to keep them happy.
The 'Go Ape' area was not open but is very popular with children. So we headed for a walk around the lake where I immediately caught the scent of the Balsam Poplar from across the other side of the lake.
A small waterfall marks the point where one lake empties into the lower lake. Today was the warmest day so far this year, but there was a strong wind blowing, too. We stopped at a lakeside cafe before heading for the children's play area. Needless to say, it was very busy there, with families enjoying the warm weather.
We enjoyed our morning here in Tilgate Park. It won't be long before we go back again!

Wow lovely day to enjoy the great outdoors! The balsam poplar scent got me curious now. Tilgate Park looks like a really good place to explore with lovely sceneries and that 'go ape' area looks fascinating. Too bad it's not open. Hopefully, next time around it will be. Happy Sunday!
