En Liga, y gracias a la inesperada derrota reciente del Barcelona ante el Cádiz, el Real Madrid se encuentra en una muy cómoda primera posición con la única duda de cuándo será matemáticamente el nuevo campeón de Liga, el "si pueden o no ser campeones" ya no es una pregunta para la mayoría de la gente.
Osasuna se encuentra actualmente en la mitad de la tabla, con pocas o ninguna opción de clasificarse para las competiciones europeas la próxima temporada y lo mismo puede decirse de perder su estatus de primera división. Están en una zona segura sin nada emocionante.
¿Cómo estuvo el partido?
Ancelotti hizo varias rotaciones como era de esperar, Vinicius, Kroos y Modric estuvieron en el banquillo. Mendy y Casemiro, que también son titulares siempre, no jugaron porque estaban lesionados. Me hubiera gustado que Benzema también descansara un poco, pero dado lo dependiente que es este equipo de Benzema, creo que tiene sentido incluirlo siempre sin importar el rival o las circunstancias.
Disfruté ver a Ceballos en el once titular por una vez, y también me gustó ver a Asensio ahí, porque en los últimos partidos siempre empezaba en el banquillo.
El partido no podía empezar de una forma más emocionante con un par de goles rápidos 1 de cada equipo, siendo el primero de ellos anotado por Alaba a los 12 minutos. La jugada empezó como un tiro libre hacia Benzema que estaba dentro del área, y nada más recibir el balón lo pasó al centro del área donde esperaba Alaba, y tras una rápida parada del portero, el segundo intento de Alaba se fue dentro de la red. Un buen gol táctico que probablemente fue planeado y entrenado de antemano.
El segundo gol del partido se marcó solo 1 minuto después, gracias a un pase superfuerte por la derecha de Chimy, nadie detuvo el pase que se fue un par de metros por delante de la línea de gol, y Budimir mandó el balón adentro con un toque fácil sin portero delante. Militao pudo haber parado el balón, pero falló de alguna manera y esto le permitió a Budimir anotar un tiro muy fácil.
In the league, and thanks to Barcelona's unexpected recent defeat against Cadiz, Real Madrid is in a very comfortable first position with the only doubt being when it is going to mathematically become the new league champion, the "if" is no longer a question for the majority of the people.
Osasuna is currently in the middle of the table, with little to no options of either qualifying for European competitions the next season and the same can be said about losing their first division status. They are in a safe zone with nothing exciting going on.
How was the match?
Ancelotti did several rotations as expected, Vinicius, Kroos, and Modric were on the bench. Mendy and Casemiro, who are also main players, didn't play because there were injured. I would have liked to see Benzema having some rest too, but given how dependant this team is on Benzema, I guess it makes sense to always include him no matter the rival or the circumstances.
I enjoyed seeing Ceballos being included in the lineup for once, and I also liked seeing Asensio in there, because in the last matches he always began on the bench.
The match couldn't begin in a more exciting way with a couple of fast goals 1 from each team with the first one being scored by Alaba around the 12-minute mark. The play started as a free-kick towards Benzema who was inside the area, and as soon as he received the ball he passed to the center of the area where Alaba was expecting, and after a quick save from the goalkeeper, Alaba's second attempt went inside the net. A good tactical goal that was probably planned and trained in advance.
The second goal of the match was scored only 1 minute later, thanks to a super-strong pass from the right side by Chimy, no one stopped the pass that went a couple of meters in front of the goal line, and Budimir sent the ball inside with an easy touch with no goalkeeper in front of him. Militao could have stopped the ball, but he somehow missed and this allowed Budimir to score a very easy shot.

8 minutos después sucedió algo muy improbable, se repitió la misma serie de eventos que antes. Rodrygo gana un penalti para el Madrid tras regatear dentro del área, Benzema tira el penalti en la misma dirección que antes y el portero vuelve a detenerlo en lo que pareció ser un dejavu.
Both teams looked unpressured, probably because they are both close to achieving their objectives regarding the national league, and this allowed the players to feel comfortable on the pitch. That was my impression at least.
Towards the end of the first half, in the very last minute, Real Madrid was able to score their second goal. Camavinga crossed the ball into the area towards Ceballos who was near the furthest post, his shot is stopped by the goalkeeper but then the ball goes straight towards Asensio, and with the goalkeeper already defeated he easily scores.
Both of Madrid's goals had similarities because in both cases the goalkeeper stops the first shot, but is unable to do the same in the second shot. Real Madrid now had a fair advantage and I was expecting the second half to be just as entertaining as this one.
I was also expecting Ancelotti to protect some of the main players such as Alaba or Benzema, by allowing them to rest in the second half and prevent them from suffering from accumulated fatigue in the coming weeks. Alaba even finished the first half with what appeared to be an injury, and Carjaval entered the pitch for him in the second half. Hopefully, Alaba can recover in time to play the Champions League semifinals against Manchester City next Tuesday. Benzema, on the other hand, continued to play the entire match with no rest for him.
5 minutes into the second half and a very silly penalty was caused by Chimy due to a handball when trying to stop a dribbling from Rodrygo. Benzema was the man in charge of shooting it but surprisingly for many the goalkeeper, Herrera, stopped it and prevented Real Madrid from increasing their advantage.
8 minutes later something very unlikely happened, the same series of events as before repeated itself. Rodrygo gains a penalty for Madrid after doing some dribbling moves inside the area, Benzema shoots the penalty in the same direction as before, and the goalkeeper stops it once again in what felt like a dejavu.

Real Madrid continued to control the ball and the match after their second missed penalty, and instead of feeling stressed, they continued to play the same as before. However, I do think the 2 missed penalties affected Benzema somehow.
But that didn't prevent him from being the one who triggered Madrid's third and final goal in the last minute of the match when he filtered s terrific pass to Vinicius, who thanks to his immense speed, was able to reach the area with a positional advantage, and he then assisted Vazquez in what was a very simple goal. It was a perfect counter-attack and it all began with a beautiful pass from Benzema.
In the second half, Real Madrid missed so many opportunities that this match could have easily ended with a 1-5 score or even with more goals, but thanks to Herrera, Osasuna's goalkeeper, the final score was just 1-3.
Befor Madrid's third goal there were a few moments where Osasuna believed they could score and tie the match, but they weren't so lucky and all of their attacks were neutralized one way or another.
Real Madrid obtained a well-deserved victory and depending on the results of its closest rivals, particularly Barcelona, it is possible for Madrid to become the new champions in their next league match. However, it will probably happen in their next 2 or 3 league matches. Real Madrid's focus is now entirely on Manchester City and the Champions League semifinals. Hopefully, Alaba, Mendy and Casemiro can recover on time from their injuries and participate in these matches. These 3 players are key for Madrid's defensive system and the absence of any one of them will make things much harder for their team.
What's next?
The next week, the first matches of the Champions League semifinals will take place. Manchester City vs Real Madrid and Liverpool vs Villarreal. 2 English teams and 2 Spanish teams, and I believe each country will have a team in the final, but that's a conversation we will have next week.

Otro partido para la dosificación de energías para el Madrid que les resulta, con todas sus variantes realizaron un buen partido empleando las buenas presiones altas.
Una de las cosas que podría destacar en relación a este tema es que el único jugador que no ha visto rotación es el Frances Benzema y es a uno de los que mas se le debe dar prioridad porque el Madrid vive una dependencia, la sola idea de una posible ausencia de su 9 seria catastrófico para lo que les queda por enfrentar esta temporada. Pienso que la liga esta resulta a solo 4 puntos de ser oficial así que deben centrarse completamente en Champions.
Tienes razón en lo de Benzema, y creo que la temporada que viene su físico va a estar muy desgastado sobre todo porque está el Mundial de Diciembre. No creo que Benzema rinda tan bien el año que viene, por lo que el Madrid debería firmar un nuevo delantero este verano.
Hola @dedicatedguy. En estos días hay duelos de estrategias. Pienso que Ancelotti debió darle descanso a Benzema pero no fue así.
En todo caso, al igual que tú me encantó ver a Asensio como titular. También me está gustando la forma en que Valverde está jugando.
Sinceramente, la rotación en este juego estuvo bien para descansar las piernas de los jugadores.
El Real Madrid es prácticamente el campeón en esta temporada. Solo falta ganar 1 juego más, o que el Sevilla o el Barça pierdan puntos.
Yo también pienso que debió darle descanso. No le dió descanso a Alaba y parece que se lesionó. Recuerdo que en su segunda temporada en el Madrid en su primera etapa, el equipo se le cayó justamente por no rotar.
Como el Barsa le ganó a la Real Sociedad, se retrasa el campeonato para el Madrid, pero es algo que ya está cantado, y quizás incluso termina habiendo pasillo en el derbi madrileño.
