No hay una rivalidad histórica entre estos 2 clubes, pero sí una rivalidad enorme entre CR7 y el Atlético. Durante 4 años consecutivos, de 2014 a 2017, el Real Madrid fue el único equipo capaz de derrotar al Atlético en la Champions League, CR7 jugó en el Real Madrid en esos años, y esto comenzó una gran rivalidad que muchas personas aún recuerdan hasta el día de hoy.

The first match was very even and I think Atletico even deserved to win. However, that match was 3 weeks ago, so many things have changed in both teams and I honestly believed Manchester United had slightly more chances of winning today than Atletico. Mainly because they are playing in their stadium and because they have CR7 who loves defeating Atletico in the Champions.
How was the match?
The match started with Manchester United taking the control of the ball, and assuming the initiative of looking for attacking plays. The ball spent a lot of time on Atletico's side of the pitch, and it was clear Atletico decided to do what they usually do and adopt a very defensive strategy.
The first important attacking play was in favor of United, Elanga received a pass while he was inside the small area, and his touch was miraculously stopped by Oblak's head.
It could have been a goal but this time luck was in favor of Atletico. This happened around the 12-minute mark, and a couple of minutes later, De Paul almost scores an incredible goal from outside the area but De Gea was able to stop it with an amazing save. De Paul's shot had a deflection and this made the save even harder for De Gea.

In an act of desperation, United made 3 substitutions at the same time around the 67-minute mark. Rashford, Pogba, and Matic went inside the pitch in exchange for Elanga, Fernandes, and McTominay. Cavani entered several minutes later around the 75-minute mark in exchange for Fred.
United sent everything they had to the pitch and now all Atletico could do was to resist as best as they could and wait for the match to finish.
Tener Cavani y CR7 al mismo tiempo no parecía la mejor opción porque estos 2 jugadores parecen ser incompatibles entre sí. CR7 juega mejor cuando es el atacante principal, y Cavani juega mejor cuando hay otros extremos talentosos que pueden filtrarle buenos pases. Sin embargo, estos dos jugadores son increíbles de cabeza, por lo que si el plan del United era enviar muchos centros al área, contar con ambos aumentaría sus posibilidades de marcar un gol.

La Champions League volverá en unas semanas y los próximos partidos aún están por decidirse. Este viernes habrá un sorteo para decidir qué equipos jugarán entre sí.
Este fin de semana tenemos un nuevo El Clásico, el popular partido entre el Real Madrid y el Barcelona. Primero pensé que el Real Madrid era el claro favorito, pero hoy leo que Benzema y Mendy podrían no jugar el partido debido a sus lesiones, y estas ausencias realmente debilitarán al equipo. ¡De lo que estoy seguro es de que sería un partido emocionante para todos los aficionados al fútbol!

Having Cavani and CR7 at the same time didn't seem like the best choice because these 2 players appear to be incompatible with each other. CR7 plays better when he is the main attacker, and Cavani plays better when there are other talented wingers that can filter good passes to him. Nevertheless, both of these players are amazing headers, so if United's plan was to sent a lot of crosses into the area, having both of them would increase their chances of scoring a goal.
Time went on, and United simply couldn't score. The most dangerous attack in the last 15 minutes or so was just a header from Varane.
This match made it very clear that United is not a functional team, their latest signings have not been the best, and the club seems to lack knowledge about what is the proper direction to take. This problem will surely need several years to solve.
Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, reached the quarter-finals and couldn't be happier. This difficult season is turning out to be OK for them as long as they manage to finish the national league in the top 4 positions.
What's next?
The Champions League will return in a few weeks and the next matches have yet to be decided. This Friday there will be a draw deciding which teams will play against each other.
This weekend we have a new El Clasico, the popular match between Real Madrid and Barcelona. I first thought Real Madrid was the clear favorite but today I read Benzema and Mendy might not play the match due to their injuries, and these absences will really debilitate the team. What I am sure of, is that it would be an exciting match for all football fans!

Hermano. El Atleti se clasificó siendo el Atleti, fieles al estilo rocoso de Simeone, supieron sufrir cuando hizo falta y golpearon en el momento exacto. Griezmann hizo un gran partido tanto defensiva como ofensivamente, ayudó en grandísima forma a su equipo.
En lo que al United respecta, se han quedado una temporada más sin poder aspirar a ningún título, es la quinta consecutiva y la cosa pinta compleja en el panorama de los Red Devils; la orfandad post Ferguson es sumamente marcada en el lado rojo de la ciudad de Manchester. ¡Mañana subo mi crónica!
El Atleti sin duda está enderezando su temporada. Solo necesitan defender su posición en liga, y bueno, si llegasen a clasificarse a las semis de Champions seguro se inspiran a lograr algo grande.
El United está horrible, no tiene soluciones sencillas. No entiendo además que hacen Cavani y CR7 en el mismo equipo.
Muy cierto lo del Atleti, han ido enderezando la temporada -que estaba siendo por demás compleja- poco a poco y si se llegan a meter a Semifinales, siempre son un equipo peligrosamente combativo.
La política de fichajes del United, desde hace tiempo, es: fichar por fichar, no se traen refuerzos específicos con miras especificas a un estilo de juego definido.
Así es, el United en ese sentido se parece un poco al PSG que no planifica bien sus fichajes.
Atlético ganó gracias a uno de los arbitrajes más malos que haya visto. Pero aún así, no jugó peor que el United. ¿Que vamos a hacer con ese equipo? No conectan, no se comprometen.. es la CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!!!! No digo que el Atlético no tenga mérito, al final metieron un gol y eso es lo que vale. El arbitraje no ayudó por qué todo contacto era falta para el árbitrucho ese y se notó. Hasta interrumpió una jugada clave para el United. Aún así, el United tenía para empatar y no pasó. Pogba, Pogba.. No juega como con su selección, a Elanga se le olvidó que jugaba fútbol, Sancho no conectaba, Fernandes intentaba, CR7 intentaba pero el resto del equipo no ayudaba. Ronaldo pedía balón en pocisiones clave y no se lo pasaban. Es un United apagado, que no le sirvió de nada el empujón anímico de golear al Tottemham. El entrenador no plantea bien el juego y hace los cambios tarde. No es que el atlético jugara mejor, simplemente el United jugo peor y con un arbitraje pésimo. Aunque sea con un buen arbitraje podrían haber empatado, por qué aún siendo malos, basta con que a Ronaldo le llegue un buen balón y listo. Pero no, el equipo se las arregló para jugar a lo loco. HORRIBLE. Una vez más, CR7 y De Gea (diría que Bruno y quizá Varane y hasta el que entró al final, Cavani)fueron los únicos que se les veía que querían jugar a matar... Mal, mal, mal.
Los problemas del United no son de fácil solución, llevan tiempo dando palazos de ciego cada vez que firman a un nuevo entrenador. Muchos jugadores pareciera que no estuviesen comprometidos con el club. Es complicado saber a ciencia cierta qué le sucede a este equipo. A comienzos de temporada yo esperaba que fuesen candidatos a la liga y ahora parece que ni siquiera van a estar en la próxima Champions. Con respecto al arbitro, generalmente evito comentar cualquier error que hayan cometido pero igual no creo que el United tenga excusas hoy. Sencillamente no juegan a nada y así no van a ningún sitio.

Creo que a el United le está pasando algo muy similar al PSG... Puedes tener la plantilla mas cara del mundo, pero si no tienes proyecto, nada funcionará. El Manchester City y el Liverpool son un claro ejemplo de esto. El City no solo ha invertido dinero en jugadores, sino que también contrató al mejor entrenador y le dieron tiempo para que impusiera su estilo. El City sin Guardiola y sin el tiempo que le han dado, sería un PSG 2.0.
La calidad de los entrenadores de City y Liverpool sin duda hace la diferencia. Quizás si el PSG fuese más paciente con sus entrenadores le iría mejor, aún no entiendo porque despidieron a Tuchel.
