Real Madrid had a satisfactory victory against Eibar. (ENG + ESP)
Real Madrid faced a team that is much smaller but with the challenge of balancing the focus between yesterday's match and the next 3 matches that are going to be extremely important and can determine whether this is a good season or a bad one. These 3 matches consist of 2 against Liverpool for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and between these 2 matches, there is the league match against Barcelona, the main rival when it comes to Spanish competitions. So, Real Madrid will have to play these 3 difficult matches in a just 8 days. But first, they had the obligation to defeat Eibar in order to keep competing for the Spanish League trophy.
I was surprised to see Madrid's lineup against Eibar. The presence of Marcelo, Isco, and Asensio at the same time gave me a bad feeling because these players, especially Isco and Marcelo, have been underperforming for the entire season and their presence is usually followed by a tie or a defeat. Real Madrid is a team that needs to win most of the time if they want to achieve their objectives. The players I was actually hoping to see since the beginning were the 2 winger Brazilians, Vinicius and Rodrygo. .
However, there might be a good reason why they started this match on the bench. I think Zidane will use either 1 or both of them in the next challenging matches, and he decided to give them some rest in yesterday's match given the fact it was against a lesser team.
Regarding Asensio, his entire season has been disappointing in my opinion, I was expecting to see him in a much more productive role but in the last few games, he started to score more goals and today he managed to score the first goal of the match. He received a good pass from Casemiro after the ball was recovered, and with a skilled move, he avoided the defender and found himself face to face against the goalkeeper. One of the best things Asensio can do is shooting the ball, he has a great left foot and once he was in front of the goalkeeper, he did a terrific shot that went straight in.
Seeing Asensio scoring goals on a constant basis is excellent for both his confidence and the team. The current Real Madrid squad only has 1 important goal scorer, Benzema, and this isn't enough to compete against other big teams with several important goalscorers. All the big teams have at least 2 great goalscorers, while Real Madrid only has 1. This will probably change next season if Real Madrid decides to do important moves in the summer market, but for the moment this is how Real Madrid is competing.
Vinicius and Rodrygo aren't really goalscorers they are opportunity creators, which means they are capable of destabilizing the rival defense and create situations where Real Madrid has an increased chance of scoring. Yesterday's second goal was scored by Benzema with a header and assisted by Vinicius minutes after he entered the pitch.
The most dangerous situation against Real Madrid was a misunderstanding between Vázquez and the goalkeeper Courtois in which the latter received a pass but miscalculated it and it almost became an own goal. Courtois saved it in the last meter with a heroic stretch. It would have been psychologically devastating to suffer such a silly own goal because at that moment the match was just 1-0 and knowing Real Madrid always has difficulties scoring goals the pressure to win would have been much bigger than usual. Eibar wasn't able to cause much danger on its own and was pretty much at the mercy of Real Madrid's attacking players.
This match looked like an easy one from the beginning, but from time to time, this type of matches can get complicated because the players of the dominant team tend to get too confident and lazy, which gives the players from the lesser team an opportunity to surprise their rivals and either tie or even win the match sometimes. Real Madrid was very solid in defense so there were no surprises.
The next match for Real Madrid is going to be on Tuesday against Liverpool, these are the same teams that reached the Champions League final in 2018 with a victory for Real Madrid, so Liverpool is surely looking for revenge. Both teams aren't as good as they were in 2018 but since they are at a similar level right now I think the match will be very even and entertaining.
El Real Madrid se enfrentó a un equipo mucho más pequeño pero con el reto de equilibrar su concentración entre el partido de ayer y los próximos 3 partidos que van a ser tremendamente importantes y pueden determinar si esta es una buena temporada o una mala. Estos 3 partidos consisten en 2 contra el Liverpool por los cuartos de final de la Champions League, y entre estos 2 partidos, está el partido de liga contra el Barcelona, el principal rival en lo que respecta a las competiciones españolas. Ver a Asensio marcar goles de forma constante es excelente tanto para su confianza como para el equipo. La actual plantilla del Real Madrid solo tiene un goleador importante, Benzema, y esto no es suficiente para competir contra otros grandes equipos con varios goleadores importantes. Todos los grandes equipos tienen al menos 2 grandes goleadores, mientras que el Real Madrid solo tiene 1. Esto probablemente cambiará la próxima temporada si el Real Madrid decide hacer movimientos importantes en el mercado de verano, pero de momento así es como está compitiendo el Real Madrid.

Habría sido psicológicamente devastador sufrir un gol en propia tan tonto porque en ese momento el partido estaba 1-0 y sabiendo que el Real Madrid siempre tiene dificultades para marcar goles, la presión por ganar habría sido mucho mayor de lo habitual. El Eibar no pudo causar mucho peligro por sí solo y estaba prácticamente a merced de los atacantes del Real Madrid.
Este partido parecía fácil desde el principio, pero de vez en cuando, este tipo de partidos pueden complicarse porque los jugadores del equipo dominante tienden a ser demasiado confiados y perezosos, lo que les da a los jugadores del equipo menor la oportunidad de sorprender a sus rivales y empatar o incluso ganar el partido a veces.
