Osuwisko, piramidy i morze folii. Landslide, pyramids and a sea of plastic [#122] POL/ENG

Wczorajszy dzień to było wyzwanie. To miał być mały spontaniczny spacerek z przestrzenią na rozmową, a gwoździem programu było przedzieranie się przez szlak istniejący chyba tylko na mapie. Najpewniej nie chodził nim nikt od czasu Guanchów, czyli pierwszych mieszkańców Teneryfy. Tradycyjnie widoczki.

Złapałem owada! Pierwsze zdjęcie to natomiast widok ze wzgórza okalającego teren gigantycznego osuwiska. To musiał być niesamowity spektakt. Po milionach lat kurz opadł, pojawił się płaski teren, przyszły ludziki i się osiedliły. Ludziki lubią płaski teren. Gdzieś po środku tej otoczonej wzgórzami i wybrzeżem przestrzeni znajduje się miejscowość Güimar, a w niej piramida, tak słyszałem. Potem okazało się, że jest to kompleks piramid, a wstęp kosztuje całe €10. Darowałem sobie. Zresztą na miejsce podjechałem już po zamknięciu obiektu. Piramidy zlokalizowane są... Chociaż raczej powinno być: Przy piramidach zlokalizowana jest ulica im Thora Heyerdahla, norweskiego poszukiwacza przygód i wariacika, który przepłynął Pacyfik na własnoręcznie zrobionej tratwie, tylko po to, aby udowodnić słuszność swoich teorii antropologicznych. W sumie to szanuję. Więc jeśli pan Thor mógł przepłynąć, mogli też starożytni.

No więc podążając za swoimi zajawkami, Thor trafił na Teneryfę i zainteresował się piramidami w Güimar. Stoi tam 6 obiektów o wysokości max 12m, zorientowane są astromomicznie zgodnie z kierunkiem zachodzącego słońca w dniach przesileń. Na dodatek po wejściu na szczyt jednej z piramid zaobserwować można podwójny zachód słońca. Całkiem nieźle! Któż mógł to zbudować? Jakaż zmyślna i rozwinięta cywilizacja? Może Kanary były przystankiem dla starożytnych na drodze do Ameryki u swoją astronomiczną wiedzą podzielili się z lokalsami. Tak utrzymywał Pan Thor, aż do swojej śmierci w 2002 roku.

Jakiś czas temu oglądałem popularny serial z Grahamem Hancockiem w roli głównej, a jeszcze za czasów studenckich jarałem się zakazaną archeologią, Dänikenem itp. Dysponujemy tak malutkim procentem informacji dotyczących odległej przeszłości, że ekstrapolacją bardzo łatwo przeoczyć coś ważnegodo tego dochodzi zjawisko projektowania cech naszej współczesnej cywilizacji na zamierzchłe dzieje i nic dziwnego, że dane mogą być interpretowane na wiele sposób. Całe szczęście! Ogólnie skłaniam się w kierunku stwierdzenia, że Starożytni byli dużo mądrzejsi niż nam, współcześnikom zazwyczaj się wydaje. Tak sobie pomyślałem i tym razem.

Poszukałem, poczytałem i znalazłem informacje o badaniach naukowców z lokalnego uniwersytetu. Naukowcy wkopali się nieco w glebę pod piramidami i znaleźli niepodważalne dowody, że budowle postawiono nie wcześniej niż w 1848 roku. Kamienie zostały ułożone przez rolników, którzy oczyszczali swoje pola uprawne. Dlaczego piramidy? Nie wiadomo.

Możliwe, że rolnicy mieli super zmysł marketingowy, albo jeden z nich był na wyprawie do Egiptu i sprzedał ideę kolegom. Świetny zmysł marketingowy mieli na pewno mieszkańcy Güimaru, a "piramidy" dużą część swojej popularności niewątpliwie zawdzięczają Thorowi Heyerdahlowi, któremu aż wystawili pomnik z wdzięczności.

Nie mniej jednak serial Antyczna Apokalipsa polecam.

A wieczorem poszedłem na jeszcze jeden spacer, chciałem zobaczyć z bliska morze folii, które przykrywa plantacje bananów.

Yesterday was a challenge day. It was supposed to be a small spontaneous walk with space for conversation with a friend, and the highlight was a trail that probably hasn't been walked since the time of the Guanches, the first inhabitants of Tenerife. As usual, great views for you.

Somewhere in the middle of this space surrounded by hills and the coast is the town of Güimar, and in it a pyramid, so I heard. Later it turned out to be a pyramid complex, and admission costs €10. I decided to skip it. Besides, I arrived at the site after it had already closed. The pyramids are located... Although it should probably be: Next to pyramids is located the street named after Thor Heyerdahl, a Norwegian adventurer and eccentric who sailed across the Pacific on a handmade raft to prove the validity of his anthropological theories. So if Mr. Thor could make the journey, the ancients could have done it too. Actually, I respect that.

So following his own passions, Thor ended up on Tenerife and became interested in the pyramids in Güimar. There are six objects there, with a maximum height of 12 meters, astronomically oriented in the direction of the setting sun on solstice days. Moreover, by climbing to the top of one of the pyramids, one can observe a double sunset. Pretty cool! Who could have built this? What sophisticated and advanced civilization? Perhaps the Canary Islands were a stopover for the ancients on their way to America, and they shared their astronomical knowledge with the locals. That's what Mr. Thor maintained until his death in 2002.

Some time ago I watched a popular series with Graham Hancock in the lead role, and back in my student days I was into forbidden archeology, Däniken, and the like. We have such a tiny percentage of information about the distant past that extrapolation can very easily overlook something important. Add to that the phenomenon of projecting features of our contemporary civilization onto ancient times, and it's no wonder that data can be interpreted in many ways. Fortunately! Generally, I tend to lean towards the statement that the ancients were much wiser than we, contemporaries, usually think. That's what I thought this time at the beginning.

But I looked for and read about the research of scientists from the local university. The scientists dug a bit into the ground under the pyramids and found indisputable evidence that the structures were erected no earlier than 1848. The stones were laid by farmers who were clearing their fields. Why pyramids? It is not known.

It's possible that the farmers had a great sense of marketing, or maybe one of them was on a trip to Egypt and sold the idea to his colleagues. Or, possibly, just for fun and laughs? The residents of Güimar definitely had a great sense of marketing, and the "pyramids" undoubtedly owe much of their popularity to Thor Heyerdahl, to whom they even erected a grateful monument

And in the evening, I went for another walk to see up close the sea of plastic covering the banana plantations.
