Aug. 16, 22: Routine, Fall Prep, New Domain, PIMP meeting, Walking, Oculus, SM Season Ends, TV, and Games

[Man! For the second day in a row I’ve been up since about three. 😭😡 Means I’ve lost four hours worth of sleep in the last two night…not good. I figured I’d crash out at some point yesterday, but didn’t. Thinking about trying for a #AutomaticWin this morning, so trying to get most of my post done and then hopefully head out.]

Was up this morning around three for a solid two hours short on sleep for the day. 😢 My tummy seems to be pretty upset the past few days and I’ve interpreted it as the result of stress/anxiety, but maybe I’ve got a bug or something and I’m interpreting it incorrectly since I am kind of worried about teaching for the Fall. I don’t know, but it seems like I’m a bit more uptight than I keep telling myself I need to be.

For lack of much else to do in the middle of the night, I got down to studying and watching YouTube videos for Calculus III. Things are starting to click again, but I still look at some problems and think “wut?” and then get really worried ‘cus I’m supposed to be able to explain how to do it to other people in such a way that they can learn it too. 😱

I do have the WebAssign for this class mostly set up and I’ve worked through the entire calendar, so really I just need to type up the calendar and syllabus and get them posted to Blackboard and edit the homework a little. The Algebra, on the other hand, I haven’t even started preparing and still haven’t heard back from the lead faculty despite asking twice now. 😡🤬

One super cool thing was that I got an email saying that I was eligible to mint an Unstoppable Domain for free! I’d been looking into it and had created an account, but hadn’t bothered to pay for one since I’m not sure how it works with websites that aren’t static…can link it to a traditional domain, though, which is probably what I’ll do. Anyway, totally awesome, I got one of the ones I had favorited on my list:

I own that domain now and never have to pay for it…so nice! Probably going to look into IPFS to see how to get that working first as a backup and then perhaps as a way to avoid that annual fee altogether. 😁 If I can figure out how to detect incoming transactions to that address, it also opens the possibility for me to accept other crypto than HIVE (but we’ll see)! 🤑

Between messing around with the new domain and studying, the morning completely got away from me, though, and when I snapped out of my Calculus fog, it was time for the weekly Pimp meeting. I threw together the skeleton of my post, but never got back to editing it. [Was a bit disappointed that BroFi skipped me today - not sure if my word count was too low or what - but I guess it is what it is.]

I’d wanted to go out for a #AutomaticWin, but remembered the meeting, and so once we finished up I took the doggy down to the other trail we found downtown.

I totally could do with it being about ten degrees warmer (and I stuck to long pants today), but otherwise it was a beautiful sunny day.

The only life I really saw today was some turtles at this pond. They were all sitting on that log basking in the sun, but they all bailed when we got close…all but one:

I studied some more after we got back and then started to drag and was thinking of laying down. My birthday is coming up in a few days, though, and we’re going to be going away for the weekend, so Wenche gave me my gift early. I got a couple gun accessories for my Oculus controllers, and of course, that meant I had to try them out and I played some Shock Troops for a while instead of taking a nap like I should have.

When Wenche finished with work she made us turkey tacos for dinner and then we watched some more Only Murders in the Building that we started yesterday. Definitely got some star power in that show!

I got a new WombPlay game: Mech Arena, so I messed around with that for a while until I started to crash out.

Wow! Two days in a row now of forty+ SIM dShitty income. 😮 If, as it seems, the reason for screwing players so badly is to control the inflation to try and manipulate the token price, I guess we should expect the game to collapse in on itself at these levels?

My Ego has been staying low on Rising Star, so it’s just more missions for the time being.

One more day left to wait on HashKings. I’m not sure how I missed the third day when the plants revert, seems like I skipped it somewhere, but whatever, the clock is still ticking down. I guess I still have those ten pinners to deal with as well…fun browser refresh times. 😛

Today was the end of the Splinterlands season and I have to say I’m all around disappointed. The reset has seriously fucked me and now I’m back in Silver with all my monsters crippled. It makes playing suck even worse than normal, so I wanted to try and make progress as quick as possible to get out…like an hour of playing, barely made any progress and earned one (ONE) fucking chest. 🤬

Was one card, some DEC, and potions worth playing? Not really, to be honest. There were some days I didn’t play, for sure, but the days I did play I got nowhere.

I claimed my SPS interest for the day and left it liquid for now looking to swap it out in a couple days, but I did finally get itchy enough to swap out about half of the vouchers I had on the market. Feels good to have a little dry power again, but I’m thinking I’m likely going to spend it buying back SOL. 😡

Got my stats for last week. I kind of didn’t expect to have green arrows across the board since I was pretty active the week before as well, but it has been good to see my average sleep slowly improving.
