Dec. 7, 21: Routine, Early Teaching, Oculus, Crashing, and Games
Well, we’re back to the cat howling again at three in the morning. I lost a good two to three more hours of sleep and reinforce the feeling that it’s two people living separate lives in the same house…being alone in the dark with basically nothing to do but smoke like a chimney isn’t really the natural state of man.
We’ve covered all the material we needed to cover in my class, so I was stressing a bit trying to figure out what to do for today (and the next couple classes), but I got a reasonable idea of what I wanted to go over by the time I had to get ready. Unfortunately, that didn’t leave me very much time to do my post and I was only able to get just the bare bones structure done.
Still very frustrated that I have to keep timing my posts to the minute every day and even more just being ignored. Really shouldn’t have been a hard fix and here we are, months later, same problem. Been thinking about resetting back to ten (and getting skipped) since it gets even more annoying the longer I have to wait for it (today it’s 10:21). Speaking of the Man Cave, Ray is back to peddling some shady whatever again, but I learned my lesson on that one; fool me once and all that…
I’m still fairly happily surprised the last few mornings that despite the rough seas in the crypto markets, I’ve gained back against ETH. I know going into MATIC was a risk (and still is), but I’ve hung on and it seems like there’s some bullish fundamentals happening. Although it would be nice to get a ten x or more, not really looking for that, just hoping to outperform ETH.
I did realize today that there is SWAP.MATIC on H-E. If I can get that to work (a direct bridge between Polygon and Hive), that would make some of the worry fade away (I worry about how I’ll ever be able to get back out of Polygon). I tried to mess with it, but there was neither a deposit nor withdrawal option for MATIC. It looks like it is on LeoDex, but it didn’t work either (needed to go in through Metamask). We’ll see, one percent (plus tiny gas fees) would be a lot better than bridging to ERC20 and dealing with those fees and then exchange fees as well as withdrawal fees!
The roads weren’t awesome and it was snowing a little on the drive in, but I made it without incident and was about fifteen minutes early. I went over the derivation of the Logistic Equation and then we reviewed some problems from way back at the beginning of the semester.
Got back and grabbed a quick sandwich for lunch and then had an appointment at the dog groomer to get his nails trimmed. She did it zoop zoop in no time and wasn’t going to charge me, but she did it for free last time, so I gave her a tenner. Figure it’s only fair since it would be a struggle if we tried to do it, worth it for the skill and tools.
Once we got back from the groomer I was basically toast. I didn’t want to lay down yet (was trying to stay awake to get to bed tonight), but I didn’t even want to stand up let alone play any games that required any movement. Mostly just did a few more levels of Lucky’s Tale on the race mode and then petered out on that as well.
I’ve kind of gotten interested in BXT, particularly as passive income to grow the Solairitas Project and I took an even deeper dive in today and joined a pool. I was a little chuffed with myself since I used SPS I earned passively (to earn BXT passively to earn fees passively), but I’m not exactly sure how it works…it says I should receive several different tokens, but I’ve only gotten BXT. I’ve only been in there for slightly less than a day, though, so I’m going to give it a couple before I decide whether to get out or go in harder. I suppose it’s easier just to buy the BXT and sit back rather than locking it up and dealing with pool imbalance and the other risks, but I’m not passing judgment quite yet (although, I’m a bit skeptical due to my experience with dShitty and how that said one thing but delivers quite another). Still, been hoping for a “DeFi” platform on Hive and VFTLab was a busted mess, so here’s taking another punt with fingers crossed.
Wenche had a nail appointment after work today, so I had some cereal for dinner, played my Splinterlands quest, and then got ready for bed. Laid down and put on F is for Family but was out around seven before I even made it through an episode.
I woke up when Wenche changed the TV over to her Vampire show and then again I got woken up at one by the cat and then again at two by the cat and the snoring, so right now I’m on yet three more hours short of sleep. I guess I wouldn’t mind as much if I could sleep all day, but I do have work too. Only just recovered (almost) from when this happened last week! 🤬 FML.
Fifty-eight minus five is forty-nine. At least I can say that dShitty math is back to being properly shitty, so that’s at least right with the world. 😛
I am actually getting tired of this section of my post. Thinking I just have to let CryptoSuckmaster go the way of Holybread and never mind it anymore.
Did a couple more missions on Rising Star, but otherwise nothing interesting to note. I guess they did update with some more withdrawal options, but it’s like for 100k at a time, so doesn’t affect me.
Played my Splinterlands quest in the afternoon. Was a lot of back and forth, but I did make a bit of progress.
I don’t know what’s up, like the fourth or fifth day in a row that I had Water splinter for my quest! It’s not too bad, though and I got it done in relatively short order. Got an Epic and a Rare, so not too bad today:
Tomorrow the countdown finally ends and we can start opening Chaos packs and the next round of sales and voucher drop will begin!

It sucks that the howling of the cat keeps waking you up. Waking up when one should be sleeping can mess with ones day and sometimes its difficult to get back on a regular sleep schedual. Nice hit on the Epic and Rare Splinterland cards. I finally got to Gold league, I haven't played since CL was openable so it will be interesting to see how our old cards stack up against the new.
