Dec. 9, 21: Routine, Early Teaching, Errands, Oculus, Chaos Legion Day 2, and Games
Hooray! For once I got a decent night’s sleep! Made it until about five thirty (which is very rare these days) and got a solid eight hours. That’s far from making up the six or so I’ve lost the last two nights, but at least it didn’t make it worse.
Cryptos been looking a bit bloody lately. I’m still gaining slightly against ETH versus where I was before, but not as much as the last couple. I did harvest FIRE and claimed my Aave reward for a deposit of a whopping two MATIC. 😂 I suppose every bit adds up over time.
Speaking of adding up over time, I’m still monitoring my new punt into BeeSwap. I did get a trickle of the other tokens that were listed as rewards, but I find it very strange that the transactions seem to be invisible to explorers. I asked in the Discord, but Gerb ignored my question. Still not really sure if it isn’t smarter just to buy BXT, but I’m leaving it sit for the moment (but also not aping in either).
Did some token shifting and such on H-E, hit the faucets, some curation…the usual stuff and then I got an early enough start on my post for the day that I was able to get a pretty decent one done before I had to get ready for work.
No problem on the drive there or back. We basically reviewed the highlights and important formulas from the second half of the semester with an eye toward review for the final exam. The students asked some great questions and one (very studious student) pointed out that I’d forgotten integration by parts last class! 😱 Can’t believe I forgot, that’s a seriously important one!
After I got home and grabbed a quick lunch, I took the dog for a ride into town to run my errands for the week. Still very thankful to just be able to go to the store whenever like a proper adult (at least until the shots are mandated).
I keep trying to convince myself to get it, but I still haven’t been able to. I know I’m already a prisoner and can’t get on a plane or anything (or cross the border) even if I wanted to or go to any public shows in venues that demand papers and they’re only going to squeeze harder, would just be “easier” to comply…but that’s one of the main things that’s keeping me from it: if it was a good idea it wouldn’t need to be forced…if the virus was truly dangerous and the vax truly effective, it would be a no-brainer!
But the case numbers keep rising as the percentage of vaxxed rises in such a way as to appear to me to be almost completely uncorrelated and with mandates of three and four (and now talk of seven) shots where the “quadruple” reduction in mortality means from .05% to .0125 percent says to me that they aren’t very “effective” at all! Meanwhile we have no idea what the long term effects will be, and we’re already seeing a rise in heart problems in young people…there’s even one article circulating that suggests that’s due to cold weather. 🤣
Even if they admitted it was the vaccine, the companies are indemnified…what other products can you NOT sue if you are harmed by them? If the rushed emergency trials showed that the vax was so safe and effective, why are the results sealed until 2075 (when most of us will be dead and whatever genetic alterations have been manipulated have promulgated through to the unsuspecting next generation)? If the results truly showed it was safe and effective would they not plaster the data everywhere? They have at least now explained a mechanism by which the vaccine causes blood clots and stroke, they didn’t even know until just recently! 🤬
I tried to look at the CDC data, but that’s impossible to trust since 40+% of their funding comes from the companies they regulate…there’s so many conflicts of interest and such profit motive that I am just not willing to take the risk for basically no gain (only a lack of penalty). I mean, if the car companies could find a way to shut down society unless you bought their cars, don’t you think they would do it?
Regardless, I do have to admit my that stress level regarding the whole situation has been rising, which is precisely to the benefit of their bottom line (as I’m not the only one).
Anyway, I decided to get Real VR Fishing finally. I’d been considering it for some time, but other games (or updates) always seemed to come before. After the Fall released today and there’s a Medal of Honor that came out just a couple days ago, but they’re both $40 and I’m holding off for a price drop or sale. I’m sure they’re fun to play, but I’m sure they’re relatively short for the money as well. I enjoyed the free fishing game Bait, but completed it mostly and got bored, so it’s nice to have another relaxing, sit down game to play when I’m not feeling like getting a sweat on.
Wenche got home and made us an omelette for dinner and we watched some Teenage Bounty Hunters (which we started but forgot about apparently) and I played my Splinterlands quest before getting ready for bedtime.
I don’t think this is the second day in a row, is it? Sixty-two is sixty-two!!! Sixty-two is not the three hundred and sixty five or so I should be getting every day, but that’s precisely what makes dShitty earn its name. 😛
I’m not even going to do CryptoSuckmaster the justice of bothering to rail about it today. When play-to-earn becomes pay-to-play, bad becomes ugly.
What can I say other than just pounding out missions on Rising Star. I did just surpass forty thousand Starbits, so I suppose I could afford another person card, but I’m not entirely sure that I see the point right now. My Ego jumped up again, but it’s just temporary drunks, so I’m not going to mess with lessons now, just keep trying to get to the next level (and then another after that 😭).
I finally got a different quest than Water on Splinterlands today! 🤣 Did alright, got a nice little win streak there and made solid progress in the ranks. 💪
Just under a week left in the season and I broke into Gold I. Gives me a couple days to try and get through it to Diamond, so should hopefully be on a good pace.
Got Dragon splinter for my quest today and finished it up in Gold I. Kinda’ weird rewards today, not worth very much, and four of those basically useless Life cards:
I figured it was reasonable to open twenty packs per day for six days with one day where I can open five more. I only opened fifteen yesterday, so I had an extra ten to open for today. Unfortunately I missed a couple of the screenshots, but otherwise did fairly well. Got a few more summoners, a couple gold foil, and a couple Legendary. Got one of the Queens which is supposed to be one of the, if not the most powerful card in the new set. It’s worth quite a lot, but not sure it’s really all that useful not leveled up…too expensive to be any good, sort of.
Guild brawl started today, so I got my battles set. I’m in a gold one, so I don’t have too much hope, but should get a “participation reward.” 😂
Still disappointed that they’re only selling packs for USD and the pack sales rate seems to reflect it somewhat. They’re pumping out vouchers at double speed and I (and most others I suppose) don’t have much use for them, so they’re being dumped hard. I’m very tempted to sell mine as well, but might hold onto them in the hope they’re more valuable again later. Not sure.
