Feb. 23, 22: Routine, PIMP Meeting, Teaching, TV, and Games

The morning completely got away from me and I’m getting an incredibly late start on my post. 😱 I have gotten some work done toward cleaning up Solairitas’ wallet with the intent to do an update post and I actually already got the computer up and running and did a tiny bit of work! 👍 Still, that means I’m seriously behind schedule and I still have errands to run…]

I guess I can say that I’m pleased that my sleep seems to have settled into a pretty solid pattern from round about nine to five, but it seems that I’m running consistently an hour short each night. 🤔 I did hit the wall a little while I was getting my lunch this afternoon, but otherwise not been too tired. I suppose I have to call it good enough, then.

Did all the usual morning routine and cryptos are still being brutal. I heard it through the grapevine that there have been RPC node issues with Polygon that have been causing the problems, not necessarily Aave. Not sure whether that’s precisely the truth or not, but I hope things get straightened out soon either way! I’m really considering just bridging back out…even parking it in HBD at 12% is way better than what I’m getting and I don’t feel half as nervous about losing my funds (or access since the website won’t even load most of the time). 😡 Hate to lock in that FIRE loss, but honestly, I’m probably not ever going to make it back with the setup I’ve currently got.

Finished up preparing for teaching today and worked on my post for the day. Got my stuff all packed and lunch made, grabbed a shower, and headed out.

We had the weekly meeting of the Pimps at ten, and we had a guest today from THGaming. I’ve been getting a bit from the pools and so was already somewhat interested, but it does sound like they have some ambitious plans, and they’re already building bridges (i.e. looking to partner up with PIMP and other tribes in the ecosystem). I was impressed as well that he said they already have a dev team assembled and seem to have some other ties in the gaming world. Needless to say, I think it’s definitely worth a punt and a HODL from what I heard.

The drive in was fine and I got there with a few minutes to spare. Unfortunately, and inconsiderately, the professor in the room before me really doesn’t pay attention to the time and is consistent in letting her students out late. I didn’t even get in the room before class was supposed to start, let alone get myself setup and get the agenda on the board and all that. 😡

It is what it is. In Algebra today we looked at the Intermediate Value Theorem, practices a little more with using the Rational Roots Theorem and polynomial long division to find zeros of higher degree polynomials, and then talked about Complex numbers and how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide them.

Finished up and headed out to the car to grab some lunch. Luckily, I actually got a halfway decent signal this time and I was able to catch up in Pizza Discord and watch a little YouTube on the break. I also, of course, checked in on PeakD and there was a new version pushed with lots of new updates! 💪

I kinda’ feel like some stuff I commonly use for a little more buried, but I like it for the most part; will just take some getting used to. One thing I really liked was the new display for diesel pool payouts. Looks beautiful now:

Headed back in for Calculus class. Started with reviewing what we covered last class: Chain, Product, and Quotient Rules and then we proved the derivative rules for tangent, cotangent, secant, and cosecant, all of which are super easy once you have the quotient rule. Then I showed them an application of the Chain Rule: implicit differentiation.

Having shown them that, we were kind of dancing right at the edge of Related Rates problems, and in order to see how the procedure generally plays out, I more or less had to jump into solving those. We went over several examples and then I quickly proved the derivative of the natural log since it’s super easy to do with implicit and let them go a little early.

Drive home was fairly unremarkable, except it did seem that there were a lot of assholes flying up behind and around me at like ninety today. Otherwise, made it home a few minutes before schedule and changed clothes and started to try and wind down.

Not too much later Wenche got home and she made us pasta with meat sauce for dinner and we hunted around for something decent to watch. We ended up watching The Good Cop, which actually isn’t too bad, but I didn’t pay very close attention since I was trying to get my Splinterlands quest done for the day.

That was basically it. Already crushed my steps for the day, so now worries there, just got ready for bed and fell asleep watching the tube.

I actually remembered to go in a couple times today on Rising Star and I got my Ego back to zero and started another mission. Still kinda’ just slogging along, but ultimately I am earning Starbits for a relatively small time investment.

Even though it was pretty late before I started thinking about playing Splinterlands, I did keep up with my daily quests. Made sure to get my brawl battles in early this morning so I didn’t miss, and then did the deed proper later on.

Wasn’t too bad. I got Sneak quest, which allowed me a little flexibility as far as splinter choice and I got it done still holding in Gold I:

Staked my SPS drop, as usual, again once I got back from work, but even though the dollar value of vouchers was about the same with the fall in the price of HIVE, they were going for around 2.5 a piece! Needless to say, I sold out the rest of what I had on the market. Still need to decide the best course of action to take with those funds.
