Feb. 28, 22: Routine, Teaching, SM Season Ends, TV, and Games

Not too bad tonight, I suppose. Up just a little before five and only about a half an hour short. Didn’t drag too bad, so I guess I have to call it close enough.

Got on with the usual morning routine and was actually pleasantly surprised to see some nice pumpage in the crypto markets! Can’t help but think again that I should be trying to make some money swing trading on this kind of volitility, but more or less still just feeling sorry for myself for following Ray into FIRE (and consequently into Polygon entirely)…really thinking about ways to get out now, but losing more than three quarters of an ETH. Hurts too bad to walk away…but probably need to just let it go.

Not too much else going on really. Did all the normal stuff, shifted around some H-E tokens, hit the faucets, did some curation, got caught up in Discord, got finished getting prepared for teaching today, and worked on my post. Made my lunch, took a shower, got everything together for work, and then headed out.

I needed to get gas ⛽️ but I ended up leaving at the usual time (which set me behind a few minutes), but the drive in was smooth enough that I got there with plenty of time to spare. Was naughty and posted on the drive in since the brofund bot has me after ten last ten at this point. 😡 Thinking about resetting here soon. Such a GD annoyance that could have easily been fixed some time ago.

Taught my Algebra class. Today we looked deeper at rational functions; finding discontinuities, zeros, horizontal and vertical asymptotes, and using polynomial long division (again) to find slant asymptotes.

Finished up right about on time and went out to the car to grab lunch. It wasn’t great, but I did at least get a passable signal for most of the time. Watched a couple YouTube videos to kill time and talked with my brother on the phone for a few.

Went back in for Calculus class and we finished up with all of the basic rules for differentiation! 💪🤓 Now that we have Product, Quotient, and Chain Rules the proofs of the other rules are a lot quicker and easier than doing them out by definition. We got the derivative of the log of any base and the exponent of any base and then did all the inverse trig functions.

That was the goal for today, and even after covering all that and doing some additional examples, we were still done nearly an hour early. I did hang around and talk with some students for a bit who stayed after I let them go, but with another fairly smooth drive home, I was changed and ready for the evening by the time I should have let them out of class. 😱

On the drive home I watched a new Oculus video from Beardo Benjo showcasing another new escape room style game! I think I might have watched a bit too much and spoiled a couple of the puzzles, but I’m still very tempted to get it, even though I still have rooms to finish (and other difficulties to try) on Escape Legacy. Definitely looks cool, though, have to escape from a high-altitude air balloon. 😱 Major dizzying heights.

That was mostly it. When Wenche got home from work, she wasn’t really feeling like making any dinner, so I had some melted cheese on chips and then a bowl of cereal for dinner and played a little Splinterlands.

We watched some more of the show we started yesterday: Spirited, but I think between smoke breaks, not really paying attention because of playing Splinterlands, and falling asleep I’ve missed most of it. It’s entertaining enough that I don’t hate it, but I can’t say that I really want to watch it, not like Good Place or Good Omens or clever, lighthearted shows like that.

For once, I’d actually long since crushed my steps for the day, so first it’s totally legit, and second I didn’t have to worry about it. Just got ready for bed and ended up passing out pretty early.

Next week is off! 🥳 Really hoping to get some solid work done on the website.

Just the same old usual thing on Rising Star. Went in a couple times and my Ego is staying down, but otherwise the only thing interesting (I guess) is that I finally broke level fifty. 💪 There is that 70k Starbits there as well; should probably find a use for them.

Once again it was kind of a late start on playing Splinterlands today and I didn’t really have the patience to follow through with completing my quest. Today was the season end, but the rewards weren’t much to speak of. I guess I did get one Chaos Legion pack, but otherwise a ton of potions and tiny DEC mostly.

So, no quest rewards for the day, but I suppose that means double tomorrow provided I’m able to get caught up.

Otherwise no interesting moves; staked my SPS drop (which was actually the same as yesterday!) and just left the vouchers sit on the market. [Not sure what’s going on, I tried twice to move SPS from H-E in game this morning, but neither time the transaction even seems to have been broadcast. 🤷 Might try again through Keychain - could be a HiveSigner issue.]
