Jan. 2, 23: Routine, More Phone, Lil' Schoolwork, TV, and Games

[Starting to get into the swing of things using the new phone, the procedures required to do my daily post that have become such ingrained habit have changed significantly but I'm getting settled into the new pattern. 👍 To be honest, I think it's going to be a little smoother at the end of the day, but it's still a little chunky at the moment.]

Struggling a little bit trying to pin down where the day went...no walk, didn't leave the house, didn't really do any chores or anything, didn't watch TV, didn't play Quest...so what the hell did I do all day?! I think I'm going to have to regretfully concede that I lost another entire day to the phone transition (which is all i can remember doing all day). 😲

I started copying my music files onto the phone at seven last night and stared at it for quite a while...didn't end up letting it go until after eleven and didn't fall asleep until around eleven thirty. The cat woke me up a couple times and I finally got out of bed around seven for half an hour short on my sleep goal. I didn't drag too bad, and I did get a lot done as far as the phone goes, but I can't say the productivity is particularly high.

When I got up I went and checked on the music transfer and it had completed, so I started trying to get the player going. Took like a solid twenty minutes just to scan the songs into the library, but the thirty+ thousand songs are there. 😀 Unfortunately, I lost a lot of the album art that I literally spent days making sure were conplete...I think the ones I edited the tags manually show but the ones that were found by iTunes don't.

Been trying to tell myself that it doesn't really matter, but it totally does (OCD alert), and I spent a bunch of time Googling pictures and editing tags manually. That was getting seriously time consuming (and I've done this once before), so I got fed up with it. Later I tried a couple different album art getters; the first one was alright, but didn't edit the album artwork, just the song tags.

The second one is still slow (scans a thousand albums over and over) and crashed a couple times, but it's got nice resolution images that are the right size and is a hell of a lot faster than Googling, saving the pictures, and then editing all the tags! It's still going to take me a while, but I did get all the albums that start with numbers done and most of the a's. 🤓

Not really sure what to do, though, now that the files are all edited (and hence different than both of my backups)...don't really want to have to have two separate copies of my library (one for iTunes and one for Android) and I definitely don't want to have to upload them all off the phone).

I had two main goals for today, though. One was to finish going through the old phone (particularly all the passwords in the internal keychain) and delete out all the apps and data. I hated to do it, but after spending like an hour copying them by typing them all out I got fed up and sent the rest to myself in email. No keys or bank passwords or anything important, just like website accounts and stuff, but it still makes me nervous. Not exactly the most secure method...no matter which you you cut it, though, Google owns my life.

The second was to make sure that I got the Ledger working with the new phone before I unpaired it from the old one and deleted the app. It was a bit of a struggle, but I did get it connected via Bluetooth and disconnected from the old phone. Unfortunately, when I tried to add the accounts to the app it didn't work and now it won't turn on at all unless it's plugged in. 🤬😭

It says there's a firmware update (and this seems to have been a fairly common problem), so I'm hoping that updating will fix it. Pain in the ass, though, I have to download Ledger for the desktop in order to be able to do that; so goal sort of half achieved...it's connected to the new phone, but it doesn't actually work. 😡

Once I'd gone through all the passwords twice, deleted the apps that I'd downloaded, and deleted Ledger (the last one) there was really nothing left on the old phone other than my Apple ID.

I made sure, though, through two different sources including Apple itself whether I could just factory reset (which I thought) or if I had to sign out first. Super glad I looked that up!!! I guess if you factory reset while you're still logged in the phone will be "iCloud locked" and would have only been unlockable with my Apple ID!

I tried to sign out and it said "deleting iCloud data." I figured that might take a while and I left it. About an hour later, though, it was still spinning and I tried again. Half hour later and it was still spinning. 🤬 Went online and found a forum that said turn it off and back on again...and that totally worked. 🤣 Only took a couple minutes to sign out this time.

Once I was sure I was logged out, I set it to factory reset...was like 160 gigs, so took a little while, but finally is back to day one and I got the SIM card pulled out. Only thing left to do is take the screen cover off (hate to do it, it's perfect) and send it back. 😁 At this point, it's do or die; no going back now.

I was going to make the sloppy joes that I didn't make yesterday, but I didn't make them again today...I was wrapped up in getting album artwork and editing tags and just ended up having a bowl of cereal for dinner.

I did watch a little criminal interrogation videos during dinner, but then went back and spent the rest of the evening working on the album art.

Oh, I did start feeling some pressure to get ready for next semester and I actually alleviated it by going in and creating both of the WebAssign classes...got to work on the Blackboard sites (which means syllabi and calendars) and I've got most everything except I'm still stressed about the Calculus I syllabus and whether I have to include verbiage to the effect that students are required to have a printer/scanner for the final (which pisses me off).

That's really the only thing standing in the way of me getting ready early (now) and not having to stress about it, but I need the information from the lead faculty so I can "do as I'm told" and I don't want to email the fuckface since I don't think I'm going to be able to control my tone.

I guess the other thing that really needs doing is repainting the blackboard. It's needed a fresh coat for a while (bought the paint ages ago) but been procrastinating, need to stop and get that taken care of.

I quit messing with the phone relatively early but still got a pretty late bedtime. Put on Letterkenny and was out before too long.

[I know it's been a day or so already, but I can't tell you how much better it feels that my screenshots are fixed. 😃]

Well, at least dShitty actually paid something today. Sure, it was only one SIM, so not even worth wasting breath on, but that's more than the zero of the last two days. How does this thing even still exist?!

Remembered to go in twice on Rising Star and got another mission done. My Ego was properly at one percent (no drunks, amazingly), so I set a lesson going for now together it back down.

Starting to really piss me off now. My Splinterlands rental income was still only sixty cents for the day, literally a sixth of what it was when I started (and that was kind of disappointing to begin with). Just repeat the mantra: it's better than nothing.

Did my usual SPS claim and paid the rental fee. Almost staked them up but then caught myself; going to keep it liquid for the next couple days to swap out.

I'm not sure what's going on, but I did see some mention of a DEC-B (and a proposal to make it soulbound - non-transferable)...guess they're going down the route of: our tokens are shit, let's make more, ala HashKings style? 🤷‍♂️

HK:
I got a new, updated screenshot of my BUDS balance (still not from the site), but that was the extent of my interest (or lack thereof) in HashKings.

GLX:
Did my daily claim and stake on Genesis League. Don't mind clicking a couple buttons to get some tokens since I haven't paid anything for it in the first place. Even so, still don't have any desire or plans to play this (if it ever happens).

WOO:
Guess I claimed a but earlier today than yesterday? Dunno, seems relatively low today. Otherwise, no mining rewards but I did stake some from the airdrops that finished out. 🤑

KOD:
Did get a few more tickets on KOD, just letting them build up a bit for now.

AR:
I think it actually happened on the first, but don't think I mentioned it in any case; we got the first Stellarum drop for our ASTRA holdings on Astral Revelations! 🤑

Seems to be holding value pretty well so far, and I've got a little over a dollar's worth. Between the ASTRA and Stellarum (as it stands) I'm already about halfway (maybe a little more) to breaking even, and that's not accounting for the value of the cards that are yet to come. So far, I'm not disappointed.
