Jan. 31, 22: Routine, SM Season Ends, DoubleDay, Teaching, TV, and Games

Woot! Been about forever since I earned a #DoubleDay!!! I’ve come close a few times the last couple weeks but always ended up at least a few hundred steps short. Not today; absolutely crushed it! 💪

It had been hanging over my head and stressing me out for quite some time, but it turned out I wasn’t called in for jury duty today. However, that meant that I had a full day of teaching instead.

Up around five again, so not too bad at all there, but later to bed than usual and ended an hour and a half short. Wasn’t too bad, though; didn’t drag, taught class. 👍

Nothing major to note regarding the usual morning routine. Cryptos trading sideways if not down a percent or two and still not feeling comfortable enough to alter my Aave position. So, basically just checking in and keeping an eye on stuff.

The morning got away from me pretty quickly, though, and I got a fairly late start on my post. I was able to get it done to a reasonable degree before I had to start getting ready to go, but I slipped on my posting time and lost a couple minutes to the brofund bot. 😡 Have to wait until six after ten today instead of four…really shouldn’t have to pay so much attention to it all if someone else would pay attention to the coding.

Today was the last day of Power Up Month and I’m sure I got it. Just waiting for the official confirmation.

Anyway, got ready and headed in to work. Easy drive today and I got there with nearly twenty minutes to spare. There’s a class in there before me and they went over time, so I ended up standing outside the door and being late getting set up, but it was fine, I suppose.

In Algebra we looked at finding and proving inverses of linear functions and I showed them that when we do stuff like (A+B)^2 or when we say “four is a square” we are actually taking about squares and tried to reinforce that there’s an extra 2AB (two other rectangles) that’s in that square!

I let them out a couple minutes early and went to the car to grab my lunch. Luckily, I had a reasonable signal on the phone, so just killed some time watching YouTube. Headed in to get set up but there was another class in the room…I didn’t think there was, guess they just adjourned early the other times? Dunno.

Taught my Calculus class. We took a step back from the hardcore limit proofs I jumped to last class and reviewed solving trigonometric equations for a little while and then we looked at evaluating limits graphically and numerically. I’d given them the definition of “continuity” last class, and this time I went through properly and showed them how it eliminates all the possible ways a function could be discontinuous. After I started into some of our special limits and I gave them (again and without proof) the definition of the number e and we proved that the limit as x goes to zero of sinx/x is one. I gave them the cosine one as well, but figured we’d done enough and I’ll prove it next class.

Fielded a couple questions after class and then headed home (sounds like we’re in for some major snow and people are anticipating having school canceled on Wednesday - I told them just to take the day off if class is canceled, we’ll make it up). No problems with the drive home either and got back a few minutes before Wenche got home from work as well.

She made us an omelette for dinner and we binged more Workaholics until bedtime. No need for any marching today, had my ten thousand steps twice over, so just got ready for bed and zonked out. Oh, called in again and don’t have to go for jury duty tomorrow either, so got the day off…need to fire up the computer.

dShitty is just complete nonsense at this point. Right when you think it’s about as shitty as it possibly could be, they say “hold my beer.” I guess it’s fun to complain about it every day for like a year? 🤷 Not quite sure why I continue with this section of my post when it’s been more or less the same without any signs of letting up.

Not too much new or interesting going on with Rising Star today. My Ego is still zero, which is sweet, so just been hitting those missions when I can. Up over fifty thousand Starbits again; might be time to go looking for another card. 🤔

Generally I shy away from playing Splinterlands right after the season reset, but I was getting behind on my quests and couldn’t resist. I actually got off to a pretty good start, kept in Gold so far, and got my quest done from yesterday.

I got Snipe quest for today, but switched it and got Water instead. Got most of it done, but got tired and decided to leave it till the morning. Of course, with one win left to finish it starts to f$&k me and put me up against rediculous all gold maxed rented decks and I just gave up and rage quit. 🤬 I’ll deal with it later.

Hooray! I got a Gold Foil! But it was Pelacore Conjurer, so who cares?

Today marked the end of the Splinterlands season. A bit disappointed that I didn’t make it to Diamond II, but still alright. Got a little DEC, a couple rares, and a gold foil, but that was it really:

I didn’t really even consider doing anything other than staking my SPS drop today, and vouchers were down quite a bit so I left them alone for now as well.

Got my stats for the last week again today. Pretty good lookin’ there with those green arrows, but the sleep continues to be rough. I only lost five minutes on average, but that’s not the direction I really wanted it to be going.
