June 30, 22: Routine, PUM, Errands, Oculus Fail, Web Work Frustration, TV, and Games

[“Slept in” this morning all the way until five thirty! Even though I was still two hours short, I did at least wake up of my own accord. Still, that’s put a bit of a time constraint on the morning routine this morning and I’m coming up on posting time here real quick. Have to see how far I can get.]

Since Monday is the Fourth of July holiday, I don’t have class again until next Wednesday, so today marked the first day of a week off! 😁 Did quite well in terms of focusing and trying to get stuff done, but I can’t say that I was necessarily all that successful in terms of actually accomplishing the goals I wanted to achieve for today.

Not a whole lot to note regarding the usual morning routine. Just did all the normal stuff…I did unlock a new NFT on Wombat (after several weeks’ worth of playing), and the Dungeon Master season ended. I only got $.02 in WAX for all that time and trouble, but I’d only just started, so I’m going to give it another go for the next season and see if I do any better…ultimately, yeah, I’ve been earning for playing (which wasn’t the case before, just got nothing for the time), but it is kind of scary looking at fifteen hours of playtime on one game alone (having earned one NFT)…those hours of my life are gone, never to be recovered.

Otherwise, cryptos seem to be looking to continue on their current downward trend and proved that yesterday’s bounce was just that, nothing more than a temporary breather. 😭 I am still holding up fairly well against ETH, but even with earning interest I’m never going to make back what I lost listening to Ray.

I suppose one noteworthy thing is that I officially got another Power Up Month in the bag! That’s eight in a row now…all of them so far. 💪👍

Got my post done and published and shared and then headed into town to do my weekly errands. Hit the bank, the smoke store, and the puffity-puff store (mined some COIN on the way) and then got home right about time for lunch.

Speaking of COIN, this marks the end of the first month of my paid subscription. While I’m not giving up on it yet, I am somewhat disappointed. I needed to mine fifty thousand in order to break even, but I only managed about forty-one thousand (with random big Geomines and a survey 😭). At the end of the day, that means I paid them to track my location (which is an idiotic situation)…the SentinelX only gives a ten percent boost, which wouldn’t cover the difference, so I don’t really see a way to make this profitable other than cashing out and speculating on the price of XYO. 🤔😡 I’m not resentful or pissed off completely, but I’m not too happy about it at the moment either.

I’d had a glimmer of hope that the problem with my Oculus controller might be that the batteries were underpowered and when I checked, sure enough they were 1.2 volts instead of the needed 1.5. It was a long shot, but since I didn’t even know that was possibly an issue, it was worth a try. Went down to the Dollar General and they actually had some 1.5 volt AA’s, so I grabbed a pack with guarded optimism.

Swapped out the batteries (after leaving the controller disconnected for a half an hour - which was another suggestion to try) and fired it up. Sadly, it made little to no difference. 🤬🤬🤬😭😭😭😭 I tried to play an FPS for a bit, but not just frustrating, all the jerking around made me feel sick, so I gave up on it and played a round of Beat Saber. Again, it’s at this point, after I’ve tried every suggestion I can find on the forums, that I’d just be pissed and get a new controller hoping to hell that the problem didn’t persist after I’ve spent money to fix it, but there’s no way I’m paying two hundred bucks for one. 🤬

I was upset 😠 and one round of Beat Saber was enough and I quit out. Basically spent the entire rest of the day (seriously, like until nine) working at the computer. I was able to run all the changes I’d made and not tested the other day and it went pretty well other than one error that was super easy to fix, and then built a logout function as well. Added login and sign up components and added the routes to the BrowserRouter.

Everything was good and working up to this point and I’d cleaned up a few of the smaller tasks that needed tidying and now it was time to start making some forward progress again.

The goal for today was to integrate Hive on the front end. Bear in mind, now, that the whole reason I scrapped the last year’s worth of work was because Hive had no PHP support and I started over from nothing in React because it was supposed to work with Hive out of the box. Does it? Absolutely not. 🤬🤬🤬

At first it fired fourteen errors at me not being able to import. Turns out there’s a plug-in specifically for this node/webpack issue, so I installed that and edited the config files in accordance with the directions, fired it up and twelve of the errors were gone, but still “crypto” and “stream” can’t be found.

I spent, I don’t know how many hours researching and editing fucking config files and it still didn’t work. Seems they know it’s a problem, but do they fix the code? No, it’s a five “easy” step process of downloading like ten more packages, creating and editing several more config files, and then, fingers crossed, it will work. Complete and utter fucking bullshit.

I fought that right up until it was past bedtime and I gave up. First it won’t work on the back end, now it won’t work on the front end. Utterly absurd, and you can’t say it’s my fault, the code is calling deprecated node modules…seems like changing “crypto” to “crypto-browserify” on their end would fix it, but nah, got to set up a thousand overrides in four different places in your code to patch it over. It makes me want to cry (for real) and just give up.

Got ready for bed, frustrated and annoyed. Put on something, can’t even remember, and was out within minutes.

Well, hello! Do you see what I see?!?! dShitty actually sent me some SIM today! 🤑😲 I guess the positive income wasn’t a complete lie…amazing! Even with riots i got nine-fold what I have been…still more than three hundred less than it should be, but we just try and forget about that.

Same ol’, same ol’ on Rising Star today. Did one mission, got a couple Starbits, and forgot about it. Maybe I should throw some in a pool somewhere to try and get something out of them, just sitting there otherwise.

I spent most of the afternoon and evening at the computer today. The difference was that I did go in and took care of HashKings before I started working.

Harvested, replanted, and watered my plots and then tried to craft a better joint, but I guess level ten still isn’t enough. 🤬 I had some pinners left that I got fed up smoking last time and finished those. Did not increase my level or unlock anything new, just sunk more money in. 😡

I submitted a team for the Raid, but I don’t know about that, never seem to catch that it’s even worth anything. My opinion of this game remains: broken, boring, and banal.

This is one of the longest stretches in quite some time that I simply haven’t played Splinterlands. Four days now! 😱

Now that it’s had a bit of time to cool off after the reset, I might have a go, but we’ll see.

Got my rewards for the season, and as expected, not really worth it:

I guess the pack was nice, but otherwise, nothing really. Staked my SPS drop for the day and still just waited for vouchers to show some kind of signs of life. I’m getting pretty scant on liquid now, so might take the sell either way…hate to do that, though, it’s a relatively hard loss (compared to previous price action).

Not sure exactly what to do about Wordles. I was doing them in the morning, but with Wombat and other stuff taking up more time, they kind of got pushed out. Then, when I think about it before bedtime I’m either too tired to want to actually focus on it or playing Splinterlands or something else…need to find a good time to try and get them done consistently.
