Mar. 21, 22: Routine, Teaching, TV, and Games

I’ve had the last two nights worth of solid eight hours sleep and that’s helped with the dragging big time, but I suppose three nights was simply too much to ask. Got to bed around nine thirty, so not bad, but was up at five for a full hour short on sleep. It didn’t hit me too bad today, but I’d rather see it going the other way.

Did all the usual morning stuff and not really too much interesting going on there. I did get some nice pings in Pizza Discord having won some more of the engagement giveaways! 🤑 I won another Hive account as well…shouldn’t have entered that one since I don’t need it, but it was force of clicky-clicky.

I got both my Wordle and Quordle completed for today, but in order to be consistent (since I posted those results testing it out yesterday) I’m saving today’s in a file for tomorrow, when today’s results will be yesterday’s. 🤣

Otherwise, cryptos trading sideways still. Saw a couple percent green, which helps, but we’re still stuck in the band where we spent months before. Seems like a lot of the Chads bailed out when the Fed turned hawkish and drove the price lower…mostly hardcore hodlers left, not selling. Hopefully it will continue and turn around.

There’s also the first news of successful merge blocks on Ethereum with the upgrade/merge scheduled for June as far as I’m aware…could be just the catalyst the market needs to bump up past resistance and carry on to higher highs. I just need to hope that MATIC and BAL outpace it.

Worked on my post for the day, chatted on Discord for a while, made my lunch, got a shower, and headed in for teaching. Got out the door on time and the drive was fine, so got there about twenty minutes early (hit 88888 miles on the odometer 😁). The professor in the room before me was having a loud, crying, awkward conversation (the student was bawling) for at least ten minutes. I stood there feeling anxious and uncomfortable and finally asked her to dismiss her class (when she was supposed to). She then proceeded to argue with me that my class didn’t start for another five minutes and it was still her time. 😡 It’s one thing to have students working right up to the bell (or even after), it another to have zero respect for the next class and be a bitch about it.

Anyway, ended up getting started about on time but I couldn’t get my agenda up on the board in time…was alright, though. Today we looked at five exponential and logarithmic models that are commonly used: exponential growth and decay, logistic, logarithmic, and Gaussian models. We practiced a bit with curve fitting and did a half-life example as well.

Headed out to the parking lot on the other side of campus to grab my lunch. At least I’ve found a place where I seem to be able to get a fairly consistent signal. Watched some YouTube videos to kill time and then headed in for Calculus.

We reviewed the basic rules for integrals and then we covered Riemann Sums and the formal definition of the definite integral. We spent the majority of class just working through examples of finding the definite integral first the quick way with The Fundamental Theorem and then the Algebra heavy way by definition to show that we get the same answer. It’s one of those cruel things, though, and I was honest about it…the point is to see that the conceptual way of understanding what we are doing actually works, but we wouldn’t ever evaluate a definite integral that way in practice, it’s just too work intensive and unnecessary. I let them out a little early, but several students stayed after, so I helped them with their questions and then headed home.

No problem on the way back and when I got home Wenche was starting to make dinner (she had the day off today). She made us steaks and salad and seasoned fries and we binged the new show: Human Resources. It’s a spin-off of Big Mouth and is absolutely hilarious!

That was pretty much the day; played a ton of Splinterlands while we watched TV and then got ready for bed.

[Wednesday’s teaching will be relatively easy since we have the second exam coming up at the end of this week and so we’ll be reviewing in both classes…but that means I have to write the second exam for Algebra today because I decided to combine the chapter three and four exams together. I’d really like to work on the website and it’s been days since I played Zenith, so there’s going to be temptations to fight in the meantime.]

Not quite sure what to make of it…my stated dShitty income is actually nonzero! 😮 Did that equate to an increase in the amount of SIM I received? Of course not, that wouldn’t be shitty! Got to have a robbery to make sure that doesn’t happen. Four words for four SIM: dShitty sucks my balls.

Once again, just a one mission day on Rising Star today. My drunk fans expired, and as I had expected, my Ego was starting to actually rise, so I’ve switched to lessons to get it back down. Kinda’ seems like I’ve lost interest in this one for the most part, not sure how to get excited about it again.

Not a lot going on with HashKings today, basically just waiting for my harvests. Need to get on the computer and craft some joints with those BUDS…kinda’ would like to use some for the Bang! Presale as well, but we’ll see how that goes.

Played Splinterlands in the evening like it was my job. I had the Snipe quest left over from yesterday, and man, that was painful, but I stuck to it and was able to turn it around.

Finished out yesterday’s quest still right about in the same exact spot in Gold II. Not too bad rewards, got another gold foil Exploding Rats that I was able to level up:

Got Sneak for my quest today and figured that would help with being able to use different splinters and so I ran with it. Had a bit of a good run and broke into Gold I:

Was getting a bit tired, but wanted to get caught up and although I did a bit of teetering right at the borderline, I was able to get it done in Gold I. More or less a bust on this one, a few cards, I guess:

Nothing out of the ordinary as far as my SPS drop, just staked it up, or vouchers. They seemed to be catching a bid a little, but the price hasn’t gone far…my stash in game is starting to pile up a bit, though, thinking of pulling some more out; that THGaming pool at 270% is just too juicy!

Got my stats for the last week and I’m pretty happy with all the green arrows! I suppose last week wasn’t all that strong, and I was still below 100k steps, but moving in the right direction, particularly with my sleep average. 😁
