Mar. 29, 2020: AutomaticWin, Hiking, Programming, and Games

Up at quarter past five this morning, but got a full eight hours anyway! 😁 Actually felt pretty rested and ready to approach the day.

Got my usual morning routine done and my first powerdown from Steem went through, so I split some over onto SE (got some DEC and an untamed pack) and then did a direct trade to Hive through Blocktrades for the rest.

My goal for this year was to reach twenty five thousand power. Getting a little extra boost from the fork is really nice, even though I sorta feel like I’m cheating.

Crypto markets seem to have bounced off support after breaking to the downside. It’s been months since I actually put in a trade...getting a bit frustrated watching all the money I could have made but was too scared.

I think the first step might be to sell out of bitcoin. I fomo’d in when the Chinese pump happened and then my severe and habitual hodl mentality kicked in.

Anyway, we headed out for our weekly hike in the woods just around sunrise. We decided to head over to Mom’s and take the Lady as well.

“We goes? Yay!!!”

Put in a solid eight kilometers. Not bad for an early Sunday morning! 👍😄

Started off pretty foggy and overcast, but it was quite warm and that was soon to burn off. No gloves today, and I tried without the hat, but it did end up staying on, at least for the first half.

The woods are starting to wake up from their winter slumber and we can see the signs of activity beginning...spider webs catching the dew.

A mistical adventure. (Yes, that’s a purposeful misspelling) 😁

Mr. Slugikins was out for a stroll in the sunshine.

Lots of rain the past couple days and Ms. Goodworm was on about how her house got flooded out and the world was ending. I just smiled and nodded.

A threefer! Both the doggies living the free life and tall guy photobombed. 😀 Dude was all over the place in super hyper hunting mode, and there were a few times that you could tell he was just ignoring us, but for the most part he did really well, even with chipmunks 🐿 and deer 🦌 running around.

Still no green at the swamp yet...

But you can find some here and there...

It seems the cross wars continue. Put ‘em up, take ‘em down, rinse, repeat...passive aggressive battle between church and state.

By the end of our walk, the sun was properly up and we got lovely blue skies. 😁

The stream was thawed and flowing full; water was high.

The froggies were going nutso saying: “Freaky frogs let’s friggin’ fu$&!”

In the afternoon I worked on programming Solairibot. I got it to look at the Hive chain rather than Steem (which only took a change of nine characters of code - just changed the API call!) and query the database rather than the big JSON file I was using as a DB.

Everything working great, except I can’t seem to actually do anything with the results from the database as the next line of code has already run before the response comes back. Tried callbacks and async/await, but as yet no success. So it works, but not yet the way I want it to. 😛

The stuff I’m learning about interacting with databases should help me later on, though, transferring over to other projects/ideas I have for things to build on the Hive chain. Hopefully I’ll still have a few hairs left when I’m done.

Once again, I didn’t complete my Holybread arena task. 😭 I’m still getting the other two tasks done and so slowly saving for the next hero. Considering saving for the legendary (1000 bread), but that will take forever.

There was a time when I was up around rank fifty or so. Man! I miss those days. One hundred remains the bane of my existence.

Today my Splinterlands quest was Water splinter. I got on a good run all the way up to 3382 and then it screwed me. 😡

Only one more day left in the season, I really hope I can get Diamond I, but playing the last day always sucks.

I finally gave up again and completed the quest in Diamond II with a potion charge. Got a few more good cards. 😃

I used some of the DEC I bought to buy and orb and an untamed pack. It was fun to test out monstermarket.io and get a super discount and it was the first time I’d used an untamed token on SE, so a learning experience. 🧐🙂
