May 28, 22: Routine, Solid Work Upstairs, TV, and Games

I crashed out pretty early last night, around eight, and slept in my clothes all night. Made it until five, so even with the usual waking up and stuff it was close enough to call it a full night.

Can’t particularly recall anything all that noteworthy regarding the morning routine. Was pretty routine. Crypto markets are still brutal…I guess one thing is that Aave wouldn’t load. 🤬 Probably a good thing I couldn’t see how much money money I’m losing on Polygon. 😭

Other than that, answered some questions in the Calculus Discord, chatted in Pizza, hit the faucets, did curation, checked Solairitas…the usual. Seems that Mahdi was working on Hive.vote, so we did get a chance to recover some VP; I’m still keeping a close eye on it, though. Shifted around H-E tokens, but didn’t do anything in the market. Worked on my post for the day, got it shared, and then we started looking towards heading upstairs.

Spent most of the morning and afternoon up there and got some serious work done. The bathroom up there had become the dumping ground for pretty much anything I was saving to use up there, and it was literally piled to the ceiling with insulation I ripped out of the ceiling.

We chucked all of that out the window and then stacked it in the garage. Was thinking of trying to stick it in the garage walls to reuse it, but seeing another big pile of crap in the garage after finally getting it cleaned out really hurt and I’m having second thoughts…might just throw it out when we get a dumpster, we’ll see.

We sorted through the stuff that was up there and Wenche decided that most of it was garbage. We had a bunch of brand new blinds still in the boxes and everything, but she said we wouldn’t use them, so fine.

I really wanted to get the bathroom cleaned out so we can take measurements and start getting a vision of how to get to where we want to go. It took a while, but we totally did it. 💪

Spent quite a bit of time discussing and trying to figure out how to design the bathroom so that it works within the parameters of what we have…moving the drain pipes is no easy task, so hoping to be able to work around where they are now…does place some limitations on what we can do, but starting to get some ideas. I think I’ll be able to put the breaker box right on the opposite side of the wall from the water heater…actually, now that I think about it minimizing the wiring may not be super smart…water and electricity don’t mix. 🤔

Took a break for a little bit and got some lunch and then we headed back up again. Decided to just gut the whole thing and start from scratch…replace the insulation and the walls and the windows and all new wiring, the whole shebang!

I had wanted to just cover over all the lathe and plaster and hope for the best as far as the insulation, because it’s a shitton of work and a huge mess (plus the expense of replacing everything), but better to do it right…pretty much not a square inch of this place that I won’t have completely redone. Sweat equity was what it was about to begin with. 👍

It’s hard to move around up there with all the plaster and drywall and insulation everywhere, but we started ripping out some more of the walls. 💪💪 The demolishing part is pretty fun, and it’s definitely satisfying when a large piece of plaster comes off all at once or a whole piece of lathe pops off. 😁

It started to get pretty warm up there and we’d accomplished quite a lot for the day, so we called it quits and got a shower. 😉

I spent some more time helping students with Calculus questions and made myself a leftover piece of pizza for dinner and that was pretty much it for the day. We watched an awesome movie: Boss Level, totally my style, but I did start to doze off at the end and I didn’t pay as much attention at the beginning as I should have because I was playing Splinterlands. I did get caught up on my quests, though, so that’s something too. 👍

Got some crises today in dShitty. Gotta’ pull back there on the extreme generosity they’ve been showing by actually having a positive income! 😛

Did a lesson today on Rising Star, but that was it. Got my Ego back to zero, so pounding missions again. I guess it is noteworthy that I crossed to the next level, but it’s pretty underwhelming since I need like nineteen more before anything significant starts to happen.

Unbelievable. I still haven’t taken care of HashKings. 🤬 If the mobile site actually worked, this wouldn’t be an issue.

When I finally sat down to watch some tv, it was time to play my Splinterlands quest for the day. I had Death splinter outstanding from yesterday, but got it done fairly quickly and got three wins without neutral monsters for today, so I went for it and actually got caught up! 💪

Pretty solid gain in the rankings today and the rewards weren’t too shabby. Got a bit of DEC, a pack, a gold foil, and and epic:

Just the usual as far as SPS today, just staked, and didn’t move out any more vouchers, but I am starting to get pretty itchy here.

Thought about doing my Wordles today, but it got late again and I chose to play Splinterlands instead…need to start doing them in the morning again.
