To Build Manchester United in Ten Hag's Image...!

Time is what Ten Hag needs, and time is exactly what he doesn't have.

Watching Manchester United this season has been a massive chore. One minute we are playing out of our skin, and the next, we are playing like a relegation side. Some are quick to blame the manager for these problems, but anybody who has watched us over the years will come to the same conclusion: It is more than the manager!

There is no way you can go through 5 managers [Moyes, Van Gaal, Mourinho, Ole, Ragnick] and now Ten Hag and experience the exact same scenario, where players play well for a patch and suddenly cannot put two good performances together back-to-back.

It must be something else. The one constant has always been the ownership. However, people always question why we weren't as bad under Ferguson even with the same ownership. They forget, Ferguson was a larger than life personality at the club, both figuratively and factually. He had far-reaching authority at the club and had a fantastic team to work with, and the owners were smart enough to keep of.

After he retired, that entire weight, the huge responsibility of running the behemoth that Ferguson had created, was placed on the feeble shoulders of one David Moyes.

No wonder he failed. The managers who would come after him similarly couldn't match-up to the expectations of the fans who were accustomed to regular success.

While the instability caused by the Glazer ownership and their unwillingness to evolve the club played a crucial role in why most of the managers struggled, it would be foolish to ignore one other issue.

No other club in the top leagues in the world have had the amount of success under a single manager comparable to the length of time [26 years!] Alex Ferguson was at United.

Now, in this modern Era of football, it is virtually impossible for managers to even get 5 years, let alone 20. Most managers who have come to Manchester United have felt the weight of that legacy. Ole, for example, tried to match up to it but expectedly failed.

The unfortunate truth is that no manager will ever match-up to Ferguson because they will never get the time to fail. Also, other clubs have since become more competitive in the transfer market.

So, what can Ten Hag do?

Two things...

First, despite the poor start to the season, Ten Hag is fortunate that for the first time in years, he is likely to be working under a competent football structure, assuming he is not sacked on day one.

Names like Jean-Claude Blanc, and Paul Mitchel have been touted as significant incomings for Sir Jim Ratcliffe's rebuild. These are some of the most competent professionals in the world of football and they would make such a huge difference to how Manchester United is run.

Secondly, unlike the other managers who have come before him, Ten Hag has sought to rebuild the club in his own image, rather than try and be another Ferguson.

The way he handled the Ronaldo situation, Rashford when he was late for a team meeting last season, Garnacho in pre-season, and currently the Sancho situation speaks of a manager who is trying to solve the ill-discipline problem that has dogged the club since 2013.

While positive results and performances have been missing this season, it would be a massive mistake to sack the only manager who has broken the mold since Ferguson.

The current circumstances at United mean that ETH probably has until the end of the season to keep his job.

It’s worth remembering though that he only has a 3 year contract which expires in 2025 so it would be a surprise if United didn’t take action in the summer to either end that contract or extend it. Having a manager with less than a year on his contract would not really be a statement of confidence from the club and by the summer you’ll have a new senior structure above him who might well have their own ideas on a way forward.

Interesting thought. I wonder if INEOS think that way. There is no point sacking Ten Hag when he only has a year left. I think INEOS backs Ten Hag especially now he has the time to coach.

It must be great to support a club where you can complain about the manager not being backed after he gets to sign the players he wants!

What did the Glazers ever do for us?
Well there was the billion pound on players ,
Bringing Ronaldo back for bucket loads of money
Signing whoever the manager desired
Backed every manager to get in his own players.
Aqueducts.....😃

Has scored more goals in the Premiership than the player you rate over Harry Kane. Rasmus Hovland. Hahahahaha. Even though he was injured as well. You will never ever get away from that line about Kane.

Lol...I knew that would be your comeback. As if you wouldn't sell him in a heart beat. Also, I am definitely getting away with my Kane comments. That is why he in the BundAssLiga.

If the Budesliga was so bad , United would be still in Europe. Just saying!! Keep digging a hole for yourself with your silly comments. You are at @ogeewitty levels of delirium at this stage and that is bad. B.A.D.

Ogee is in the pits. I am not there yet. We went into the CL without our regular back four, and went toe to toe with a talent heavy Bayern. 4-3 away and 0-1 at home. I wonder how it would have gone if our squad was in a much better shape.

I dunno Denis. @ogeewitty wouldn't never come out and say on record that "United are better off with Hojland than Kane." Not in a million years. He is an Arsenal fan, granted , we all have our crosses to bear and they are indeed bottle jobs which he got wrong last November , December , January , February and March but its looks like he has a better understanding of football than you do.

I am just a rational individual.

Hypothetical: We bought Kane last summer, he is not receiving quality service from either Rashford or Antony. Regardless, he scores several goals, but we are leaky at the back, canceling out his goals. We win nothing.

FFP denies us the ability to sign enough players to help compete against our rivals. We win nothing of consequence for two or three years.

Kane is 33 years old. He can't keep up with the pace of the league. He is earning north of 350k a week. Nobody is willing to buy Kane with such wage demands.

United are back on the market looking for a striker for their new project.

-Ends.

The alternative - Højlund is just 20 years old. His salary is not an issue and he has all the time in the world to fit into a new project. His movement is elite. He will score and often.

Kane is the kind of player you bring in to complete a team not to build a project.

Is it worth the debate? Fucking United fans think they're something special , like the basics of football don't apply to them because when they were little children they choose to support the most successful team around and surprise surprise that didn't last forever.

Here's a fun fact, only 3 teams this season across the major European leagues have lost more games than United and I'm posting this before they get ass raped at Anfield on Sunday

Harry Kane was a steal for £90 million. An absolute steal. Every club in the world would bite their hand off for him. Harry has suffered with lack of supply for years yet he still comes up with the volume of goals every season. He is the best front man in world football and quite possibly the best number 10 as well. He is 30 years of age which is now still young enough with todays training methods to last another 6 - 8 years. Look at Ronaldo, Zlatan, Messi, Silva and Ramos as a prime examples. Kane was never the fastest striker. He never will be. But when Pepe gave Haaland a video of Harry Kanes movement last season you can see how he will last. He rarely gets injured as well. Your hypothetical thinking is rubbish as best. It's quite laughable your thinking. It amazes me.

A steal? He is literally earning 450k a week at Bayern. Also, your owner made it very clear he wouldn't sell to United. Furthermore, nobody is questioning Kane's quality but I don't think Kane is effective in the PL 3 years from now. That is why Bayern is perfect for him.

Yes a steal. His results are better than Mbappe

QuoteOne can only imagine how many goals he would score at the tip of a strong side playing beautiful possession-based football under a progressive manager.

Could you be more butt hurt that he didn’t join you?

P.s. Kane is 30 years old

You missed the part I questioned his age.
Also, I am not hurt. If he went to another PL side, yes, I would be very hurt. But to Bayern?? Meh!

Probably the most pointless league after Ligue A.

Excuse me, not exactly. The German league is actually stronger than the EPL currently, they finished ahead of the Spanish league last season. Spain is the one in serious trouble. You would see the stats there and the English comeback route.

It's nice to look at someone's point with a clear head.

I see a whole lot of sense in this narrative @deniskj . I wonder why these guys will come with so much cursing. For me, the rule of the game is, face the issue strictly make your point if you have any.

Blanchy said: "Every club in the world would bite their hand off for him."

That statement right there has no bearing to what you are saying, it is just being unnecessarily sensational.

Kane will slot in at Arsenal for example and be a huge upgrade on Gab Jesus. Infact if we had him last season, Arsenal would have had no competition for the EPL title.

However, I see your point, Arsenal ain't United. Arsenal already had a structure ready-made for Kane to thrive, United didn't have that.

@blanchy who is saying Kane has been under-supplied for years now, but still scoring. What did Tottenham win with Kane? Ok must Kane move from under-supply to under-supply? Why punish a super-star like that? What wrong has he done to football?

So realistically, as great a player as he is, not every project suits him.

It is even a mark of honour to say Kane should not come to United. Mr. Denis, I guess you mean that United does not deserve him. You don't want to frustrate his immense talent. Forget about about anyone pointing at Ronaldo and Zlatan's age, the average EPL club(with all the latest health technology) doesn't work with such lofty age estimates, so why ask United to try it.

Only where I fault you, is Kane at 33. Oh no, he's training methods, his discipline will ensure that at 33 he would never be off pace. Never! However I don't support Kane waiting around for a title at 33-years of age, which is why I think you are right on United not needing him( I see it as, United not deserving him). Kane should ideally be in Real Madrid now.

Also on the guy your team bought, please there are better 20-year-olds brother. But these things happen, Arteta has made mistakes in buys, why can ETH not make one? I have told you before that a guy like Emery has made mistakes in the past, so it's no surprise he gets his recruitment's spot on these days.

The highest goal scorer of the Europa League so far is the new teenage striker, Pedro, of Brighton. There are better youngsters out there and by the way, for a big club like Man U, it's not just about being good, it's about having a strong personality.

Not every young player can go to a Real Madrid and do what Jude Bellingham is doing there. No, not everyone. Infact some young players who are better than Jude, will crumble once they put on that Madrid shirt. Ancelloti didn't just sign him because he was skillful and scores goals, top coaches look beyond that, into the players psyche, his ability to handle the pressure of a big club.

So your thoughts are not nearly rubbish afterall.

Why is it that you understand what I am clearly saying and Blanchy and Tales don't? Not wanting Kane at united is really all about having a group of players who will be peaking at about the same time when we come good.

We are still a project and Kane would be wasted. Also, mentality is a huge aspect for players at United. You can't thrive without it at United. Most players cave under the pressure.

However, I disagree with you on better 20 years olds. Care to mention a few?

Well, maybe we can give them one more chance. Perhaps they would understand your point better when they read my rendition of it.
I hope they can be free of any bias on this topic and we talk football on it's own merit.

I have seen better 20-year-olds and thereabout, doing better as soon as they land huge clubs, so I know that there are better ones. Halland wasn't 25 when he landed City, Mbappe wasn't 20 when he landed PSG. Højlund ain't doing enough, but I know you won't agree with this assessment.

Well what's really important is that we agree that for a big club, it's not just about how skilled a young player is, you must check how much heart he has. In modern football these parameters can be easily checked.

Infact in football today, things like aura are checked. Some coaches are meticulous enough to check what kind of aura a player carries, such that a sound player is not signed because he fails the aura test. Funny but so true.

We await the Tottenham guys.

Oh, c'mon. Mbappe and Haaland. You are talking about the best of the new generation of players. None of them are even available. 😅
