Manchester United's signing deal with Anthony sparks much controversy due to its high value, is the Brazilian worth it?

After a long period of speculation, tension and attraction, English club Manchester United finally succeeded in reaching an agreement with Ajax of the Netherlands for the services of Brazilian winger Anthony.

Manchester United announced on Tuesday night on their official website that an agreement would be reached with Ajax to include Anthony, the deal would depend on the player's medical examination, and the final agreement on personal contract terms.

Although the value of the deal has not been officially announced, all reports confirm that Manchester United will pay a total value of up to €100 million to sign Anthony.

The 22-year-old Brazilian winger is one of the most prominent young players in Europe currently, especially with his privileged abilities both in evasion and ending attacks and creating opportunities.

Anthony will return to play again under former Ajax coach Eric Tin Hag of the Netherlands, and to the Brazilian's credit, Tin Hag was able to conclude two deals from his former team after signing Argentina's Lisandro Martinez earlier this summer.

But, does Anthony deserve the huge buzz that accompanied his move to Manchester United? Is the standard amount paid by the Old Trafford team for its inclusion, which made the Brazilian the second most expensive purchase in the history of the "Red Devils" after French Paul Pogba?

Skill and scoring ability
Anthony is a right wing playing left foot, preferring to get into the heart of the pitch to exploit his strong foot off the wing.

Anthony has the ability to use his incredible speed to pass from competitors, but he suffers completely from the inability to use his right foot.

Anthony has incredible numbers during his career with Ajax, which began in 2020, contributing 64 goals between scoring and making 82 appearances in all tournaments, a staggering number of course.

Anthony also has an incredible understanding of defensive duties, which he has shown characteristically with Ajax over the past two seasons.

Is Anthony worth his value?
Ajax undoubtedly brilliantly exploited Manchester United's need for reinforcement up front, pressuring him with all the strength he had come out with the best possible deal.

This comes despite Anthony pressuring Ajax management to refuse to train and miss games in order to agree to his departure to Manchester United.

But this huge value of a 22-year-old, who knew only a good success in Dutch football, makes it an uncounted risk of consequences from the "Red Devils."

Bearing in mind that Eric Ten Hag knows perfectly well Anthony's advantages and disadvantages, he will be the most able to exploit his talents for the benefit of Manchester United.

The entitlement of its value here is relative. Some would argue that the state of the transfer market has shifted for years, that signing young players with the ability to carry their new clubs has become expensive, and that this summer Real Madrid also signed French youngster Aurelian Chuamini from Monaco at about the same value.

But Anthony's deal specifically signifies an incredible bargaining power from Ajax, despite Anthony's rebellion and pressure to leave, with the Reigning League champions successfully taking advantage of Manchester United's need as best as possible.

Ajax's profit from the deal is at least 85 million euros, having signed him in the summer of 2020 from Brazil's Sao Paulo for just 15.75 million euros.

Can he make a difference?
While players moving from the Eredivisie to England took some time to adapt to the Premier League atmosphere, Anthony has the advantage of working under Eric Ten Hag.

Anthony already understands the demands the Dutchman places on the players, specifically the wingers, as the Brazilian's defensive work was one of the reasons the Manchester United manager was keen to sign the Ajax player.

Anthony will certainly be under the microscope very early at Manchester United, especially with the club's reputation for signing big-money deals without achieving the desired result.

Anthony has already put a lot of pressure on him from the start because of the value of the deal and the way he moved, and he has to quickly prove himself to the Old Trafford fans who want the team to return to its reign quickly.

That 100 million was way too much for Anthony, he is a skilful player I have watched some clips of his playing style but still United should not have paid that amount.

Is any player worth 100 million? There is talks going on about capping the Premiership teams and this maybe the last big purchase United will do for some time.

Unfortunately, any young player who excelled in one or two seasons has become a transfer value of 100 million,
Which is very exaggerated, with the incomprehensible clubs racing to conclude such huge contracts financially and not guaranteed at the sporting level , Certainly a ceiling must be set for financial values with contracts

I think any player in any sport worth 100 millions. That amount of money is ridiculous.

100M is actually too much for almost all players but the EPL market is just so crazy especially when it involves Manchester United.

There's not doubt that Antony is a promising Talent but the business around it doesn't seem healthy at all.

I just wonder what the price would be if the likes of Manchester United or PSG starting rooting to purchase Vinicius Jr in the next window.

Yes, an exaggerated number, in such a situation in the transfer market, and the exaggerated numbers may not rule out offering 160 million in Vinicius Junior

For United fans sake hopefully he's not like Nicolas Pepe. I had to google his name again such was his lack of impression in the league.

For United though you've got to cough up $ and make a power move

Dunno how Haaland ain't there with the Old Gunnar Solskjaer connection

I'm not praying for the worst but I don't just see this guy doing anything for Manchester United, we always buy players with huge money who seems not to turn up for us. We had an opportunity to sign Haaland for 17m but refused guess he wasn't expensive enough for Man utd.
