My Actifit Report Card: August 20 2021

I'm finally winning the battle against the knotweed! This is part of the dreaded knotweed patch near the house. Since I put some real effort into knocking it back early in the year over the last few years it is finally beginning to be overtaken by other plants! This jewelweed has sprung up by itself and is great for hummingbirds and pollinators, its interspersed with sumac and willow that I planted deliberately, of course the knotweed is still there. You can see some of its shoots in the bottom left still trying, but it's a really positive sign and given me a break from some of the labor intensive knotweed management this year!


Mel thought he heard something... probably a garter snake or vole or similar. I always find it funny when he points because it seems out of keeping with his "American Shelter Dog" looks.
